Does anyone have a way to aggregate reports from affiliate income companies?

I'm starting a side project (to get away from relying on amazon as much), and it will use over 50 different affiliate programs. How do you guys keep track? About 30 will use the big affiliate companies, so I can see reports from there, but the rest will not.
Even just the reports from the big companies, like Commission Junction, does anyone know of a way to aggregate reports across companies, like create a dashboard? Or import reports into a program like a CRM to see what the week was without going to every website every day?

CASE STUDY - Growing Another Purchased Affiliate Site - Attempt #2 - Month 1 (April 2020)

Here we go again! I did a very active Case Study on this subreddit of taking a site from $1,000/mo to now $13,000/mo, selling it, retaining 25% equity, and still managing the site for a fee. Read all of that here in Month 10 of the Case Study. That site is doing well. We closed in on $13,000 profit in April 2020
I am back with another case study. Similar to the first case study, I also purchased this site very recently. Let's get started with where the domain stands as of when it was purchased.

Case Study Website Details

Why Did I Buy This Site

Let's get started on what I did in April 2020 right after buying the website.

Month 1: April 2020

I had a full month in April 2020 to stabilize the site, plus a few days in late March 2020 as well.
Let's start with some April 2020 stats and then we can get into the nitty-gritty of what I did to increase income:

Quick Wins for April 2020

Whenever I acquire a website, I like to go for quick wins. Here are the quick wins that I did within April 2020.

Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)

If a website has traffic, it's easier to increase income through Conversion Rate Optimization. That's exactly what I did.
  1. Add more affiliate links: Affiliate links were missing on a few critical places on the main landing page of the website.
  2. Added Comparison tables above the fold
  3. Added Amazon Native Ads at the bottom of each post

Improve On-Page SEO

  1. Increase page speed, caching, etc: Changed server hosting to Digital Ocean with plugins like WP Rocket, and services like Cloudflare to make the site much faster
  2. Optimize Image size: Ran the site through ShortPixel to reduce image size
  3. Related Articles: pages on the website did not have any related articles at the bottom of the articles. Users were left with a "dead end" after reading the article. Adding a Related Post plugin increased the Number of Pages view, and decreased the Bounce Rate on the website immediately.
  4. Interlink Articles: Installed Link Whisper plugin. Use the plugin to easily link all of the articles to high-traffic potential articles.

Keyword Research

Using AHREFs, I found hundreds of product-related keywords. Since my domain is strong, I don't really care how much competition the keywords have as my site is an authority in the niche and it will take the top 3 positions rather quickly.
My focus now are keywords with the following format "Best X...", "X vs Y", and "X review". These are easy to rank for and very lucrative.

Content, Content, Content

Using the same process as in my first Case Study, I immediately hired a team of writers. Currently, I have 8 writers. Of those, 3 writers do hands-on reviews for brands that want to sponsor reviews. The others have some background in the niche but I do not give them products to review.
As I said, all of the writers are experts in the niche. Therefore, they actually have many of the products being reviewed. I make sure they write in the 1st person, share personal experiences, provide actual images of the products, etc. This provides a much more valuable article!

Integrated More Amazon Affiliate Links

The previous owner was not strongly promoting Amazon or any network for that matter. They were doing it as a hobby.
Comparison Tables: I immediately implemented comparison tables. I created my own HTML+CSS table so that I can embed both Amazon and other affiliate network links. I use AAWP to create the Amazon links that get embedded into my handmade tables. The tables look great on Desktop and Mobile.
Amazon Native Ads: I usually put one of these at the bottom of each post.

Applied to Other Affiliate Networks

Amazon cut commissions in April. This has caused many affiliates to diversify income. This was part of my plan anyway since most of the manufacturers I am promoting have private affiliate networks through Impact Radius, AvantLink, or Commission Junction.
Therefore, I applied to these networks. I currently am accepted to over 80 company affiliate programs through these networks.
The challenge that this site has is that most people buy random stuff in the niche when going to Amazon. Therefore, other programs will only work if these criteria are met:
If these are not met, then it makes no sense to promote such a product. Smaller priced products should be promoted through Amazon since you have a high chance of extra products being purchased.
Each niche is different. Do your own research on this.

CPA Offers

The niche I am in has many CPA offers through private networks, Clickbank, etc. Of the revenue generated above, $500 or so is from CPA offers.
I was accepted to a private CPA network with specific offers for this niche. Looking to expand into CPA offers over time with this site.

Email Newsletters

There are over 3,400 email subscribers. I have everything set up in Aweber costing about $50 per month.
Using Elementor, I setup popups on the site to capture email subscribers. I am getting about 10 subscribers per day average.
The email list has generated about $200 of revenue so far. This is how I structure the email blasts:
The email list generates traffic back to the site plus gets some revenue coming in. I will be testing the email list over time to see what sticks.
This is my first time with email lists so if you all have any suggestions do let me know.

Social Media

The social media following is above 180,000 for this site on it's Facebook page. The strategy is simple. Using, I schedule out articles 1 month in advance, 4 times day.
My strategy is as follows:
  1. Share Informative articles on the site
  2. Share Buying Guides
  3. Share CPA offers
  4. Share Product review articles with a link to Amazon or another network where the user can buy the product. hoping to generate a nice income from the Facebook following as well
Trying to continue growing the Facebook page. Any advice on how to grow apart from what I am doing, please let me know

June 2020 Plans

Here is what I plan to do in June 2020:
What do I expect in June 2020:
Thanks for reading! I hope you found some tidbits here that was useful. Questions, comments, and criticism welcome!
I started a free newsletter where you can read more details of my case studies, how to buy grow sell sites, and more. I have 12 years of experience in this industry and sharing my expertise through the newsletter.

eMagin and Apple
In 2017 eMagin Signs Agreement with Tier-One Consumer Electronics Company -
HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 2017-- eMagin Corporation (NYSE American:EMAN), a leader in the development, design and manufacture of Active Matrix OLED microdisplays for high resolution imaging products, today announced the signing of a development and licensing agreement with a tier-one consumer electronics company permitting it to use eMagin technology. The program is expected to generate licensing revenue if the company commercializes eMagin's technology.

1Q 2020 Conference call referencing 2017 Agreement -
Andrew Sculley
I think the important thing from our point of view is that there are a number of companies going back even to 2017. We announced the licensing and development agreement so there is a company already planning for their next generation headset and this company has to get it perfect unlike others we've seen.

eMagin & LG
LG would be interested in utilizing eMagin's direct patterning IP potentially as a manufacture for a company like Apple .
Robert McIntire with LG Ventures was on a panel with EMAN CEO at SID last year -
eMagin , Apple , LG
Why Apple and LG as potential partners with EMAN?
Because EMAN clearly has a relationship with them .
Buried In a 2018 "Red Herring " prospectus was a list of "Specified Investors".
EMAN would have received a discount from the Broker fees if the "Specified Investors" had invested in EMAN because they had "had discussions" -
"According to a report from Bloomberg, “Emagin listed those companies in the filing because it had discussions with [the companies] at industry events,” the company reportedly told the publication."
The "Specified Investors"
  1. Stillwater Holdings LLC and its affiliates
  2. Valve Corporation and its affiliates
  3. Apple Inc. and its affiliates
  4. LG Display and its affiliates
  5. Immerex and its affiliates
see page 41 -
However , none of the "Specified Investors" invested in eMagin at that time -
eMagin & Intel
eMagin needs an on-shore supplier for OLED backplanes due to the military & Intel could be a likely source .
Is this "US based chipmaker" Intel ?
Buried in this eMagin PR Jan 2018 -
Separately, the Company announced an agreement with a U.S.-based chipmaker to support scaling of mass production for the consumer AR and VR markets. This agreement will provide supply chain development assistance for eMagin to enable prototype and mass production of OLED microdisplays. As part of this agreement, eMagin’s partner will provide raw materials sourcing support necessary for scaling to mass production while helping the Company meet the cost requirements of high volume consumer segment original equipment manufacturers (“OEMs”).

How different is SEO today compared to ~15 years ago?

About 15 years ago, I followed the old Webmaster World "26 steps to 15k per day" to generate affiliate marketing traffic and made some beer money sending people to Amazon and various commission junction sites. I had kids and they take up a bunch of time, something had to give so I gave up affiliate marketing.
My kids are teenagers and cloud computing is dirt cheap compared to what hosting cost years ago, so I'm dipping my toes again.
I have more programming skills today. I made a deep vertical niche website. I figured out how I can get users of my new site to generate a decent amount of keyword-targeting "thin content" on the site. I plant a few seeds and then I let the users do the rest. I tested it with my teenage kids, they seemed to get how to use the site.
I've got a few pages of thick content (1000 words plus) to supplement this thin content and act as "landing pages". I have about 15 more pages of this thick content planned, targeting keywords found with the google keyword tool.
I've also got a blog that I use to keep the front page fresh. I try to blog daily, searching news and youtube for fresh content related to my audience. I editorialize a bit on it to get upwards of 150-200 words per blog post. Blog posts don't target specific keywords, it's just freshness relating to the target audience. I blog about my thick content as I post it. I also plan to blog about the "thin content seeds" as I plant them.
Those blog posts get sent to my small social media presence. It's worth a couple clicks per day. I like to think it's my mom. :)
  1. Is there a replacement for the open directory project? Getting a listing on DMOZ was a license to generate traffic... in 2004.
  2. Is content still king? Am I wasting my time writing 1000+ word articles about why you should consider performing X operation vs Y but having this discussion is dumb because Z? Do people use the internet to learn any more? Are users still looking for "their content"?
  3. Google Analytics doesn't seem to track keywords like it used to. How do I determine what keywords are "hitting"? What is this "search console" thing?
  4. How much SEO backlink value is there in social media? Is there a good social media subreddit?

Question about affiliate model, using Honey on Amazon as an example

Apologies in advance since I'm new to affiliate marketing and I hope this abides by the forum rules... anyway, I was using the honey extension recently on Amazon and it got me wondering: how exactly does honey make money on the Amazon platform specifically? I get that they primarily rely on affiliate links to receive a commission, but I’m assuming they’re not part of the Amazon Associates affiliate program, given the statement Amazon released about them being malware…
so if they’re just showing you different, potentially lower-cost sellers through the same Amazon platform, how exactly are they making money there? Do non-Amazon affiliate network links (e.g. Commission Junction) work for products that are sold on Amazon? I'm thinking about joining CJ or another network and just trying to understand a little bit more about how it all works. (I’ll admit I currently don’t know much about how the process works…) Thank so much in advance!

Getting Back Into Affiliate Marketing - Part 1: Generating a quick flow of money

A few days ago, my reply on this thread got me a few private messages and someone suggested that I make a thread on my journey through getting back into AM.
The original thread I mentioned is here, so I'll skip this part =>
By the way, my first language is French, so sorry if my English sucks sometimes.
Getting Back Into Affiliate Marketing
I'll cut this short. I've been making a full time living off AM since around 2007. I've been mostly into the web hosting niche.
Back then, the US was in recession. The USD was low. It was a great time for web hosting. When the recession hit, lots of people turned to the Web to try to make money. And as the USD was so low, lots of customers from the UK and India started buying web hosting in the US. The demand for shared web hosting has never been that high since the early 2010's.
Since then, I've been quite successful in the web hosting niche by publishing tutorials and developing tools that I made available for free.
Unfortunately, this niche is also quite difficult to promote on social medias. It's not like you're gonna post 250 pictures of your web host on Pinterest or Instagram. It's not a niche where you can appeal to people through feelings very much.
Through the last 10 years or so, the SEO and SEM landscape changed a lot. Most of the organic traffic comes from Google. No more Lycos, Altavista, Yahoo Directory, etc. Bing's traffic is almost worthless.
So now that my website's traffic dried up, I need to start back at the bottom. Which fucking sucks because I'm not 30 anymore.
So let's start this shit. Don't take anything I say as a roadmap. Challenge me. After all, I fucked up... twice.
What am I gonna do next?
I still want to be into AM, only this time I'll be developing a web application through while I'll promote web hosting services, most likely cloud hosting services. More about this later on.
But before I get there, I want to build something that will generate me a little cash flow. This will allow me to scale my main project faster, and frankly, my credit card ain't gonna pay itself.
Generating a quick flow of money
No, this isn't get-rich-quick scheme. I'm going to build a coupon website. There are already millions of coupons websites out there. I'm aware of that.
Here are the reasons why I chose this path:
  1. I still have higher commission rates than most web hosting affiliates. I make between $50 and $200 per sale.
  2. Coupons sites have very high conversion rates.
  3. I know lots of the keywords used already.
Coupons websites come and go. It's not a safe marketing angle for the long term. Most merchants don't like coupons sites. Google doesn't like coupons sites as most have little to no valuable content. Not to mention that lots of coupons sites owners are into black hat SEO.
The coupon website I'm building will have a fair amount of content but not too much either. All the content is going to revolve around the companies I'll promote. Most likely through tutorials.
From an SEO perspective, I'm going to target these keyword groups:
[brand names] + [coupons] + [web hosting types]
So as you've figured out by now, that's almost like bidding on trademarked terms. Only it's SEO. That's the main reason why merchants don't like coupons sites very much.
My goal is to be able to make at least 10 sales per month by April or May. That would amount to about $1000 - $1500/mo. Maybe I'm being too optimistic.
We'll see.
Affiliate Marketing Programs
A quick note on AM programs that I use. I use Commission Junction, Impact Radius, Shareasale, and many in-house affiliate platforms.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Finding a niche for yourself
I think this is the biggest hurdle for a lot of people. Some don't even go further than this.
Here's why: people come to AM with no existing user base to market to. And so they look at AM and ask themselves "Hmmm, what niche should I start promoting?"
So here's the thing: let's forget about AM for a moment. Instead, ask yourself what value can you provide to people, either through a service, product, or information?
Once you've figured that out, see if you can actually put out something of value that people will appreciate. Just start a Facebook group or an Instagram account and see if you can get some traction to your posts. If you do, get to the next step. Build a website, establish an online presence, increase your traffic, etc.
That said, no matter which niche you choose, go with something you're passionate about. Otherwise, you're gonna get sick promoting that last miracle diet on your sketchy site for the next 10 years.
Don't overthink this too hard. Your first attempt at AM will probably fail. What's important is what you'll from it. And if you manage to make a few bucks, it's more than enough to motivate you to work harder.
So what's next?
If there's enough interest, the next post is going to be a little more technical. I'm going to detail how I'm going to setup the website, the affiliate links, coupon management, etc.
Let me know what you think.

Does Reverse Affiliate Marketing Exist?

Hello all,
I'm not an affiliate marketer but I understand enough of the principles (I think) from my SEO days.
The company I work for resells a lot of very industry-specific products. When I started most of the manufacturers of these products didn't have an online cart system, or much in the way of customer service dept, so it was quite profitable for us to resell stuff. Over the past few years, most of these companies have developed online cart systems, their own social channels, and marketing, etc, which has largely cut us out of the picture.
So my question is; is there a system in which we could track leads and or sales to these suppliers? Short of trying to get them all to sign up for commission junction? I'm trying to figure out some way to create a reverse affiliate marketing program, where we, the affiliate, could track leads and sales. We'd still like to market their products, but it's not turning out to be a very effective use of my time to market something and have the customer buy direct from the manufacturer...
Thoughts? Does such a thing exist?

Amazon removing more third party affiliates. Are publishers the avg publishers next?

"Starting at the beginning of this month, affiliate networks such as Skimlinks, Sovrn (which acquired VigLink) and CJ Affiliate (formerly Commission Junction) can no longer send traffic to Amazon and get a cut of transactions, according to sources at many affiliate networks and publishers."

7 Practical Ways to Make Money Online

Whether you're looking to make some fast cash, or you're after long-term, more sustainable income-producing results, there are certainly ways you can make money online today. The truth is that making money online isn't as difficult as most make it out to seem. It does require some discipline.
However, if you're looking for realistic ways you can start earning money online now, then it really truly does boil down to seven paths you can take towards profit. Some will provide you with immediate results, helping you to address your basic monthly necessities such as rent, utilities and groceries, while others have the potential to transform your life by revolutionizing your finances in the long term.
No matter what method you select for generating your online income, there's one very important thing to understand. Money can be earned and spent, saved and pilfered, invested and wasted. Not time. That's why time is far more valuable than money. You can't recreate the time. Once it's spent, it's gone forever.
When you lack the luxury of time, making money on or offline can seem like an impossible task. How are you supposed to do that when you're working at a life-sucking nine-to-five job? While the stability of full-time employment might allow most to sleep well at night, it doesn't empower your creative juices to search for new income-producing strategies.
No matter what method you end up using to generate an income on the web, you need to adjust your mindset to help empower rather than discourage you. The truth is, making money online can be fraught with avoidable pitfalls. Cancel the noise by keeping a few fundamental guiding principles in mind.
If you're at all serious about generating a full-time income and possibly more from your online activities, then you need to focus on passive income as opposed to active income. Sure, the active income will help you survive. That's the scarcity mentality at play. But it's the passive income ideas that will help you thrive.
Considering that you have a finite amount of time, passive income should make up a large part of your work. If you're serious about generating any semblance of income online, then passive income should be one of your sole goals and ambitions. Why? Wouldn't you prefer to do the work one time and get paid repeatedly as opposed to relying on your time to generate that income? Invest the time at the front-end so that you can reap the benefits on the back-end. This means putting in a bit of sweat equity and not getting paid today. Rather, you'll get paid somewhere down the road. And you'll continue getting paid whether you keep building that passive income stream or you stop.
Anyone interested in making money online should be pursuing passive income, while also working on active income. There are loads of ways to generate an income passively on the internet, many of which start at the foundation of having a blog, generating substantial traffic and building an audience and a list. It's not easy, but it's worth it.
That doesn't mean you need to start a blog to make money online today. You could opt for a non-blog-starting route, but if you're looking for longevity in your income-producing abilities on the internet, then a blog should be your primary aim.

1. Leverage the app economy

If you're looking to address some immediate financial needs, then the app economy is likely right for you.
Uber or Lyft: If you're in a locale where you can find Uber or Lyft, or one of the many competitors around the world such as China's Didi, the hours are flexible and you can work as you see fit, making it perfect, even if you currently have full-time employment but are looking to make some money on the side.
Postmates: You don't even need a car in some locations to make money with this app. In some major metropolitan areas like Manhattan, a bike would suffice.
iBotta: Earn cash back rewards by purchasing featured products at major retailers. All you have to do is add rebates, go shopping, then snap a photo of your receipt to earn your cashback. Simple and effective.
Task Rabbit: Another simple and straightforward app for making a bit of side-hustle income is the Task Rabbit app. Tasks can be anything from simple repairs to more exhaustive undertakings. The app carefully vets each service provider to ensure the highest quality, and it's a great way to make some extra income on the side on your own terms.
Ebates: This app offers a simple way to make money online by buying whatever you're already buying and then getting a cash-back reward. With eBates, there are no scanning receipts. Simply click a link in the app and buy it from the store. You'll automatically be credited with your cash rewards upon purchase along with receiving an email confirmation.
Swagbucks: With Swagbucks, there are a number of ways you can make money. You can shop online, watch videos, answer surveys and surf the web. The app gives you both cash back and gift cards as a reward for your efforts.
Inbox Dollars: Another app you can use to make money online is Inbox Dollars, which pays you for watching television, taking surveys and shopping. There are cash offers here and it's relatively similar to some of the other apps in this arena.

2. Use existing websites

You could also opt to use existing websites for making money. These include both active income and passive income methods. For example, you could sell some used items or invest in creating some digital designs that then can be sold on merchandise. Again, devote a sizable portion of your time to passive income so that you can slowly build up earnings that will arrive on autopilot without any extra added effort.
Of course, a large portion of these sites does have their own respective apps. But these are certainly less involved in the gig economy, and more so in the longer-term projects that exist in the fields of photography, online marketing, graphic design and web development, for example.
Craigslist: This site has been the go-to resource for over a decade now for people that are looking to make a bit of extra money online. You can easily sell your used stuff, rent out a spare room in your home or apartment, and offer up your services to the world.
Upwork: This website offers a great marketplace for selling just about any professional service. You don't need a merchant account, a website of your own or anything else for that matter. All you need to do is be able to provide a high-quality service at a reasonable price. But be informed, you will have to compete with many others that are constantly bidding on open jobs.
Cafe Press: This website allows you to create digital designs that can then be sold on the platform. You'll earn a commission for everything that sells and you'll never have to deal with logistics like printing, warehousing and customer service. If you have some graphic design skills, then this is a great potential source for your web-based income.
Fiverr: Israeli-based Fivver was started in 2010 by Shal Wininger and Micha Kaufam. You can offer gigs as low as $5 but also get paid much more for upgrades and add-ons.
Mechanical Turk: Amazon's Mechanical Turk is a resource for doing human-intelligence tasks, or as the site commonly refers to them, HITs. You get paid a very small fee for any given HIT and you'll need a good deal of volume to make a substantial amount of money. But it is a resource you can use in your spare time to generate a small income online.
Flippa: If you have a penchant for buying and selling, you could use Flippa, and its higher-end counterpart, Deal Flow Brokerage to buy and sell websites for a profit. You'll need to know what you're doing here, but you could easily make a sizable income by flipping income-generating websites for profit.
Etsy: While Etsy's popularity has declined recently, it's still a great resource for selling handmade items online. No need for complex eCommerce sites or merchant accounts or any sort of automation. The company takes a commission of every sale and charges a small listing fee per item. But many still use Etsy as their primary source of income. The best part is that you can also sell digital products such as poster designs.
Shutterstock and iStockPhoto: Have a keen eye for photography? Why not sell photos on some of the leading photography sites. You'll need some design software skills to tag along. But if you do have skill in this arena, it's a great potential source for passive income.
Threadless: Similar to CafePress, Chicago-based Threadless also allows you to sell digital designs in the form of t-shirts and other merchandise such as phone cases, mugs, beach towels and so on.
Zazzle: Another great resource for selling online is to use Robert Beaver's Zazzle. The site is somewhat similar to Etsy and virtually anyone can make money online selling a variety of items here. From art to handmade items and customizable products, you can pretty much sell anything here.

3. Sell your own stuff

If you're ready to enter the eCommerce fray, you could sell your own stuff. Of course, along with selling your own stuff on your own website comes a whole slew of both responsibilities and technical configuration and requirements. For starters, you'll need a website and a hosting account. You'll also need a merchant account like ones offered by Stripe or PayPal. Then you'll need to design that site, build a sales funnel, create a lead magnet and do some email marketing.
You'll also need e-commerce software, fulfillment software, worry about warehousing, customer service and refunds. But that's not all. You'll also need traffic. Think search engine optimization, Facebook ads, and other social media campaigns. It is hard work, especially on your own. You could opt for Amazon's platform, which might be an easier route. But, then again, at the end of the day, this is a serious business, which could produce significant profits. So you're either all in or you're not.
Shopify: Want to build your own storefront? You could opt to create a Shopify store. You could also install WooCommerce as a plugin and run your e-commerce store from your blog. You'll need an SSL certificate and a way to process payments, but you might find this easier to get up and running fast to start selling immediately.
Fulfilled-by-Amazon (FBA): You could start selling on the largest online store in the world and not spend the time to build out your own infrastructure or worry about traffic. You will need to pay a commission, but most of the other processes will be automated for you.
Drop-shipping: Amazon offers one form of drop-shipping, but there are other resources for drop-shipping products that you'll never actually have to see or handle yourself. You'll simply need to close the sale. Providers like SaleHoo, Worldwide Brands, and many others, offer you a resource for drop-shipping your products.
High-ticket consulting or coaching: You could sell your own high-ticket consulting or coaching products from your website. You'll still need a website, merchant account, sales funnel, lead magnet and many other items. But you can easily earn a substantial amount of money from each individual customer, making it well worth the arduous setup required.

4. Sell as an affiliate

There are loads of resources for making money online as an affiliate. You could source products from ClickBank, Commission Junction, Rakuten Marketing, Share-a-Sale, Impact Radius and many others. Plus, many of the larger companies have their own affiliate programs as well. Do your due diligence and find the right company with a relevant product or service to your audience that you can sell as an affiliate.
In some cases, you will need an active website with substantial traffic to get approved. Selling as an affiliate isn't easy by any means, but if you do have the audience, it can definitely amount to a substantial amount of income.

5. Start a blog

If you're serious about making money online, start a blog. Blogging is one of the easiest and most sustainable income sources. As long as the blog is setup the right way, in the right niche, with the right content targeted at the right audience, and the offer is complementary to the content, you could make a tremendous amount of passive income from a blog.
While some might think that starting a blog is an arduous effort, when you understand the precise steps you need to take, it becomes far easier. It all starts in the decision of choosing a profitable niche and picking the right domain name. From there, you need to build your offers. You can easily sell things like mini-email courses, training sessions and ebooks.

6. Email marketing

If you're interested in online marketing, setup email software and create a lead magnet that you can use in your sales funnel. Then, build up that list. It's often said that you can expect to earn about $1 per subscriber per month. If you have a list of 10,000 subscribers, that means you can earn roughly around $10,000 per month. You will need to deliver value and not pitch them on every email, but it is a very achievable goal in a short period.
There are many ways to get people onto your list. Lead magnets are one such resource. For example, you can build ebooks, checklists and cheat sheets. But you can also do content upgrades, such as PDF versions of an article with added resources in them, four-part video training series, and more. Think about your audience and what you can offer them to better serve them, then treat them with some respect and you'll eventually reap the rewards.

7. Webinars training

Webinars are quite possibly one of the most potent ways you can make an exorbitant amount of money online. You'll need an audience to train and you'll need to know what you're talking about. Of course, this usually requires having a website and some semblance of an online presence. However, people can still do webinars without all of that. For example, you might have a sizable social media following and you train them every week on something to do with social media. But you will need a product to embed and sell at some point. Don't worry about it in the beginning. In my experience, the best webinar platform out there is GoToWebinar.
No matter what method you choose to make money online, understand that you might be able to make some money fast, but for the sizable returns, you'll need significant sweat equity. However, a year from now, you'll be happy you started today. Remember, time is far more valuable than money. Focus on creating passive income streams that will free up your time so that you can quit the rat race and focus on the things that matter.

As a website broker and investor myself, this website would sell at a 32-35 monthly multiple. If I sell it now, max I could sell if for would be $132,335.
If I waited a 6-12 months and can stabilized around an average of $6,000 per month revenue, I could sell for $210,000.
Both great ROIs knowing I bought the site for $36,000!

CASE STUDY - Growing a Purchased Affiliate Site - Month 1

I've been a long time lurker of this subreddit. The case studies are amazing on this subreddit and so to keep me on track, I will be starting my own. This is not a typical case study of someone who is starting from scratch. This case study is growing an already income-producing website that I purchased, and growing it 10x or more (hopefully).

A bit more about me

What this case study will be about

What this case study will not do

Case Study Website Details

Why Did I Buy This Site

Let's get started on what I did in May 2019 right after buying the website.

Month 1: May 2019

I fully acquired this site on 04/30/2019, which was great, because I had a full month in May 2019 to stabilize the site.
Let's start with some May 2019 stats and then we can get into the nitty gritty:
May 2019 ($) Description
Content 1,404 Around 50 articles of avg. 2000 words
Hosting/Domain 19.62 Domain renewal, plus $5 per month Digital Ocean setup
Plugins 102.14 WP Rocket, Ninja Tables
Social Media 75.83 Hired a Pinterest VA from Upwork. This will not continue. He did not do a good job at all
Tools 8.96 SerpBook subscription
Virtual Assistant 156.37 Content formatting, etc.
Total Costs $1,767.18

I will go over what I did in May 2019 to lead to the immediate growth.

Quick Wins for May 2019

Whenever I acquire a website, I like to go for quick wins. Here are the quick wins that I did within May 2019.
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
If a website has traffic, it's easier to increase income through Conversion Rate Optimization. That's exactly what I did.
  1. Add more affiliate links: Affiliate links were missing on a few critical places on the main landing page of the website. I added a few links
Improve On-Page SEO
  1. Increase page speed, caching, etc: I purchased and installed WP Rocket. Immediate improved in metrics on Google's Page Speed insights, and page load speed
  2. Optimize Image size: I purchased and installed Short Pixel. Ran the bulk tool to optimize the 1000s of images on the website in order to reduce size. Immediate impact on quicker page speed loading
  3. Related Articles: pages on the website did not have any related articles at the bottom of the articles. Users were left with a "dead end" after reading the article. Adding a Related Post plugin increased the Number of Pages view, and decreased the Bounce Rate on the website immediately.
  4. Interlink Articles: there was a TON of content on the website (421 articles). I spent a week (and am still working on it) by going through relevant articles and interlinking them as much as possible without pissing of Google. This really improves relevancy in the eyes of Google and consequently improves bounce rate, page views, and finally traffic.
A combination of these things helped increase the revenue to $1,776 and the traffic to 15,007 views.
Below are some other things I got done in May 2019:

Joined Publicly Available Affiliate Networks

Due to the nature of the niche, this leads itself to joining Affiliate Networks (as opposed to using Amazon Associates, Google Adsense, MediaVine, etc.). In the first week of May 2019, I joined several affiliate networks and continue to do so. As of now, I am part of these networks and have access to their affiliate offers:
I am now able to have access to virtually every offer in my niche.
Every network (except the big one Commission Junction) will assign you an Affiliate Manager. Usually communication happens over Skype via chat. This manager's job is to approve you for affiliate offers (if approval is needed) and to assist you in any way possible.
The affiliate offers I am focusing on are Cost Per Lead (CPL) (i.e., the advertiser will pay me $X for a signup on their platform of some sort) and Cost Per Subscription (CPS) (i.e., the advertiser will me $X when a customer purchase a subscription)
It does take time to be up-to-date on all the different offers available (their are 100s). A good site I use is OfferVault which has a list of all offers. It's a search engine for affiliate offers.

Find Private Affiliate Programs

The majority of the income prior to purchasing the site (i.e., before May 2019) was coming from one specific affiliate offer via a public network, which was Clickbooth. The metrics were as follows:
I was able to dig deep into the stats to find out that of all the leads I was sending this advertiser, more than 80% were mobile. Therefore, I was losing out about $10/customer as compared to the Desktop offer :-(.
Just by doing a Google search, I found out that this advertiser had a private affiliate program!
I filled out their form. Got on a phone call. Asked them if they could make it $60 per subscription. They accepted within 24 hours. With just a bit a searching, I was able to increase my mobile payouts by +$20 and desktop by +$10.
This was the major contributor to May 2019 earnings increase and will cause increased earnings going forward.
Note: the goal is to ask for an increase in a few months. Even a couple dollars increase translates to real profit.

Find Writers

Content is always king. I always focus on quality content over off-page SEO (I dread building backlinks btw). Since this site has excellent backlinks that actually bring in actual referral traffic, my focus will be to make sure I am targeting strong keywords and rank over time naturally due to authority.
Here is the template I use to hire writers on Upwork:
I am looking for quality writer(s) to write XYXYYX niche. The requirements are as follows: 1) US-based writers 2) Fixed $25 per article 3) Length will vary from 1000 to 2500 words 4) Expected to write as much or as little as needed to cover the topic. Some articles will be longer at 2500 words, some short at 1000. On average over the long term, articles will be around 2000 words average. 5) Unique content. I check for plagiarism 6) Submit in Microsoft Word 7) Expected to hyperlink to online resources used. NOTE: add the word "[SOMETHING UNIQUE HERE]" to your proposal so that I know you read this entire description to its entirely. Ignoring this will result in your proposal being auto-rejected.
I require each writer to provide a cover letter as well. I get 20-30 quality writers each job posting. I then do the following:
  1. Browse and read their cover letter. Make sure everything makes sense and their example articles are good
  2. Ensure they understand that they are going to be paid $25/article. I ask them upfront about this if they don't explicitly state it in the cover letter
  3. Offer them a paid trial opportunity
  4. If agreed, send them a Contract for trial
  5. Give them a trial article with an outline
  6. Once I receive the article, I read over it to make sure it's good. If good, I hire them and bring them onto my writing platform (discussed below). Otherwise, I reject them after paying, and then close the contract. Easy as that!
As stated, once I've narrowed down a good writer. I bring them onto my Trello board where I post articles.
Trello Platform
Trello is great for managing workflow of writers. I create two lists for each writer: (1) CURRENTLY WRITING, and (2) COMPLETED. Trello Cards represent articles. Inside the cards, I write details about the article (i.e., outline, tone, etc.). I use Upwork or Paypal to settle outstanding bills that they send to me. Fairly simple.
Here is a screenshot of my currently Trello Board for this website.

Formatting Articles - Virtual Assistant

My VA has been with me for about a year now. He is a savior.
He has done many tasks for me, such as:
I pay him $6/hour. He invoices me through Paypal. He does all the heavy lifting on all of my sites.
As for this site, once the writers move Trello Cards to COMPLETED lists. I then move the cards over to another board where he can get the document and then upload the article and format it I then get notified when he is done and I log in do the final on-page SEO of the article and post it.
Plus-point: he is based in India and I am in the U.S. He formats articles when I am sleeping. When I wake up, I have a batch of articles ready to be posted. Love it!

Intensive Keyword Research

This is my bread and butter: keyword research.
This niche has a LARGE amount of keywords to target, which is perfect. I use AHREFS (I have an annual subscription) on a daily basis to find different keywords.
In May 2019, I found 2-3 of my competitors. I plugged their domain into AHREFS and saw what keywords they were ranking for. I obtained the low hanging fruit (i.e., KD score of 0) and had my writers write them. I do not just look at KD though as that is not a complete metric. I look at the top 3 articles ranking in terms of their content and authority. If I know I can beat them, I create an outline for the article that includes all of the topics (and more) covered by the 3 top articles.
This process of creating outlines takes time but it allows me to control the flow of the writing. When I do an outline, I make sure to sprinkle in some secondary keywords in the headers. This allows me to really capture all possibilities in terms of rankings.
In May 2019, I targeted keywords with the words "best", "top", and a handful of informative keywords with KD score of 0-1.
The goal is to continue to target such keywords but slowly move into KD 2-5. The site has enough authority to warrant the higher scores.
Note: since I know the site has authority, I don't pay strong attention to metrics of the keyword. I target anything from 20 searches up to 1000. I will write content for almost all keywords over time and will rank slowly for them in the top 10. I am cherrypicking the easy ones for now.

Keyword Rank Tracking

As a "data" engineer at my day job, data is everything to me.
I use SerpBook to track my rankings in real-time. They do hourly refreshes for up to 50 keywords, which is the base plan. I will probably upgrade in the future to higher keyword count that can be tracked.
Here is a screenshot of my SerpBook for this site.
You will see many rankings increases. Things are working!

May 2019 Summary

To wrap it up, here is the summary:

June 2019 Plans

Here is what I plan to do in June 2019:
What do I expect in June 2019:
Thanks for reading! I hope you found some tidbits here that were useful. If you have suggestions for better formatting, please let me know as well. Questions, comments, and criticism welcome!
