Picks Of The Week (by u/lefuniname)

1. Merikan - Witchhunter EP [Blackout]

Recommended if you like: IHR, Gancher & Ruin, Despersion, Merikan - Absolute Zero
Have you ever wanted to bang your head against a wall while listening to neurofunk? If not, you might want to get to safety, because it’s going to get wild. If you’ve heard of him, you will know that Merikan is one of the maddest producers out there. He’s producing exactly the kind of crazy neuro I love. So I might be a bit biased, but I don’t care. I’ll say it. This might the best EP of the year for me. Warning: Lots of fanboying below.
Right from the start the Italian Maniac hits us straight in the face with the title track Witch Hunter. The long buildup paired with the massive drop gives me goosebumps Every. Single. Time. But the madness isn’t even close to being over. Haha. Merikan follows this destruction up with the similarly in-your-face Evideon, which probably means ABSOLUTE MADNESS in Italian. If it doesn’t, the meaning should just be changed now.
With Pitbull Merikan changes directions to the more atmospheric parts of the neurofunk subgenre, allowing us all to catch a breath for a second. If you know what’s coming next you’ll understand why such a breather is needed. The final track, Black Antilope, is my favorite track of the EP. Relentless is an understatement. The drop just keeps on going. And going. And going. Absolute chaos. If someone plays this in a club you’ll probably hear me screaming in the background somewhere.
If this was the only release this week, I’d still be happy.
P.S: I feel like I always do this, but please check out the Blackout Podcast Merikan did last week. If you liked the EP, you will love the podcast too.

2. Zombie Cats, SubMarine, The Clamps - Gods & Monsters Remixed EP [Major League DnB]

Recommended if you like: Neonlight, Grey Code, Volatile Cycle, AKOV
While I’m still in fanboy mode, let’s talk about the Zombie Cats!
The german-australian duo (shoutout to the Niedersachsen gang) have always been a bit of a favorite of mine, but recently they’ve kicked it up yet another notch. Last year they rebranded their image and sound from their neuro-heavy Eatbrain-y sound to one that is more open to other genres and influences, starting with Last Day. From releases on Viper, Galacy, ProgRAM and their own Zombie Cats label to all the livestream sets they’ve had, it’s safe to say they’ve been on a roll ever since.
For this release they’ve decided to revisit an old classic EP of theirs, the Gods & Monsters EP on Major League. They’ve recruited the french mastermind The Clamps, german technical wizard SubMarine and even themselves for a cheeky VIP. As expected by the lineup, they delivered. Hard. The Clamps’s remix of No God grabbed the classic, which by the way probably has the best vocal sample ever, by its core and twisted and turned it around until a whole new pure banger emerged.
SubMarine understood the new Zombie Cats sound (especially Always and Did You Know) so well that his remix of NRG almost sounds like a brand new track by the undead felines. I urge you to stay around for the switchup in that track, you won’t regret it. The EP finishes strong with the Zombie Cats own techy-but-still-neuro rework of their collab with Safra RA, making me wish this remix EP was longer.
It has been an absolute pleasure to watch the Zombie Cats innovate again and again. I can’t wait for what else they have in store in 2020. Which might be more than you think. Like that [REDACTED] for example.

3. Harriet Jaxxon - The Sound [Drum&Bass Arena]

Recommended if you like: DC Breaks, Mob Tactics, Tantrum Desire
Okay okay, I’ll slow down a bit on the fanboying. For now.
I was thinking of putting this production debut of Harriet Jaxxon into the Hidden Gem section, but that probably would have undercut her long history in the scene and her contributions to it.
Like many others before her, Harriet cut her teeth in the scene with DJing. While she was still studying music tech courses at college, she got into contact with DnB and Dubstep event promoters and quickly became one of the DJs playing at said events. After many detours into various other genres and styles, like House or UK Garage, it was a gig right before Shy FX that got her back into intoxicating vibes of DnB. After a while of uploading mixes online, RAM Records got in touch and she became a staple at various RAM events. This quickly spiralled into more and bigger appearances at festivals like Rampage or at Andy C’s infamous XOYO residency in 2019.
After all this time immersing herself in the dancefloors all over the continent, she finally decided to join in on the fun of production too. And boy does her experience show in that debut. If I was listening to it blindly and you would have told me it’s the newest club banger by DC Breaks, I would have believed you.
Pretty much right from the start, she’s playing with the big leagues. Which isn’t necessarily surprising considering her amassed experience in the scene, but is still just a nice thing to see. It really feels like she has put a lot of thought and hard work into it. One of the most polished debuts I’ve had the pleasure of covering here.
If this first release is anything to go by, this won’t be the last time you hear from her here.

4. Shapeless - Dreaming EP [Differential]

Recommended if you like: Leniz, Dustkey, SiLi
Do you like liquid? Yes? You’ll probably like Differential.
Differential is a relatively new dutch liquid-focused label that has a consistency in its releases that other, bigger labels can and should be jealous of. Let’s quickly go back in time to 2018, the founding year of the label. Unsatisfied with the dutch liquid landscape, a group of friends came together and set out to create a party series for the soulful liquid sound they all shared a love for, which quickly escalated to them creating what is now Differential. Okay we’re back. Told you it was going to be quick.
The newest release of this great ensemble features the up-and-coming dutch producer Shapeless. After two contributions to High Tea Music compilations and a collaboration on the Affinity compilation EP on Differential, it is now finally time for a full solo release by him. I think I might have exhausted the amount I can write for this week’s releases on the other posts. Just listen to this one. It’s really great soulful liquid that, as the title suggests, just puts you in a dream-like state if you let it. That’s why it is this week’s Spotlight of The Week™!
Runner-ups for this weeks hidden gem:
  • Janosh - Diamant [PLAY! Music] | great uplifting dancefloor from Germany!
  • goddard. - Player. [DnB Allstars] | unique deep sounds
  • Moytra - Incurzion Optics 002 [Incurzion Audio] | weird, weird sounds. great stuff.

Analysis of Armenia's Media Landscape

The purpose of this post is to give a comprehensive view of Armenia's media landscape. The notes are mostly from my perspective. I will try to update it over time if need be and add more. If a website is in the top 50 of Alexa ranking of Armenia, I put the respective ranking next to the followers numbers.

News Media Followers (FB/Youtube) Notes
Azatutyun 672K / 462K Part of RFERL (Radio Free Europe) which is based in Prague. " RFE/RL is a 501(c)(3) corporation supervised by the U.S. Agency for Global Media, an agency overseeing all U.S. federal government international broadcasting services. " In my experience, they tend to be pro-Western and generally pro-Government in their reporting.
1in.am 456K / 204K / #27 Historically they have been pro-Western (I remember walking by their offices which had the EU and US flag flying). They host interesting experts that are both pro and critical of the government. In general, they have good analysis and while I would say they lean towards being more pro-government, they can also be critical.
news.am 692K / 201K / #9 I would describe news.am as "quick and dirty" news. They are very quick with news reporting, but quality tends to be subpar and sometimes questionable. So don't look there for any deep analysis. From the type of topics they emphasize and put forth, I would say they are more anti-Government and sympathetic to former regime.
tert.am 554K / 37K / #36 Tert.am has deeper analytical articles and have interesting opinion pieces. They are much more analytical and professional than let's say news.am. They tend to cover events very comprehensively and quickly. As for political leanings, judging on their opinion pieces they publish, I would say they are more often critical of the government.
168.am 145K / 17K 168.am is a very active news source, they publish many opinion, analytical pieces, host talk shows with experts and so forth. They tend to be very critical of the government and seem to be rather sympathetic to the former regime.
Armenpress 90K / 3K Armenpress is an old Armenian news agency, but it's very dry and bland. It is essentially publishing news bulletins without much analysis or flavor. I would rate them as being neutral in their leanings.
PanArmenian.net 224K / - PanArmenian is also a rather old news agency. They are a bit similar to Armenpress but have a bit more flavor and analysis. They are quick in their reporting. They are part of a bigger 'Pan Media' Media company. They have nice photography. In terms of political leanings, I remember them being historically pro-opposition, nowadays it's difficult to sense which way they are since there isn't much opinion angles being published.
armtimes.com 43K / 31K Well this is historically Nikol's newspaper and his wife is a main editor. So of course expect it to be pro-Government and pro-Nikol. It's a good source esp if you want to understand the pro-government perspectives.
Hetq 10K / 20K This is the number 1 investigative journalist agency in Armenia in my opinion. They are very good at that. They have been especially active when it comes to exposing and investigating corruption. While they were historically more opposition leaning, I wouldn't describe them as really leaning politically much, they are more about investigating certain issues than political loyalties.
mediamax 83K / 983 They have interesting pieces both political and about society. Also interesting interviews.
A1plus 90K / 144K They are also rather quick reporting news agency. I don't find the most substantive pieces on their site, but they are good at covering a wide range of issues. Historically, they have been pro-opposition, and nowadays I would say they tend to be more pro-government.
antifake.am 16K / - This website has gained in notoriety given their very strong anti-Government pieces and sometimes sensational pieces that cause controversy. The quality is not very high and seems to thrive from sensationalism. They apparently determine what is "fake news". While they may have some pieces that are fine, I would take it with a grain of salt.
blognews 499K / 362 As the name suggests it's like a quasi blog-news site. A lot of the pieces they take are from certain social media users. In essence, it's like a news aggregate that publishes the most read news stories/topics often coming from social media. They also have a more traditional news section, but I'd say they are very popular for their blog aggregation.
factor.am 200K / 126K I would say this news source generally tends to be sympathetic to government.
past.am - Not the highest quality of news sources, I don't read them much.
armlur 257K / - / #35 News Media for the ժողովուրդ newspaper.
hraparak 143K / 30K / #44 News Media for the Հրապարակ newspaper.
Sputnik Armenia 56K / 7.6K The Armenian version of Sputnik News, which is owned by Rossiya Segodnya, a news agency owned and operated by the Russian government
Civilnet 251K / 117K Relatively new news agency, with wide ranging analysis articles and videos. Many interviews conducted by them. A lot is in depth. They are funded by the Civilitas Foundation, the founder of which is former FM Minister, Vartan Oskanian.
EVN Report 11.6K / 407 This is also relatively new and has English content. They have interesting analytical articles both about politics, Armenian society, diaspora. They are funded by UK Government and also supported by the National Endowment for Democracy.

A listing of the main printed newspapers in Armenia:
Թերթ Տպաքանակ
Հայաստանի Հանրապետություն 17 000
Հայոց աշխարհ 3 500
Հայկական ժամանակ 14 000

Հրապարակ 4 000
Ժամանակ 4 000
Իրավունք 43100
168 ժամ 2 980
My take on the newspapers. You will notices that many articles printed in the news media in the first table sometimes take these newspaper articles as their sources. In general, while newspapers have their own analysis with their own perspectives, I find a lot of innuendos and sensationalism sometimes propagated by these newspapers. They often talk about "our sources" like they have some insider info about the rumor. That being said, it's sometimes helpful to understand what political rumors are floating around in Armenian political sphere, as long as you take it with a grain of salt. There sometimes can be some truth to certain rumors, though not yet confirmed. That being said, a lot can also be exaggerated or plain out false. It's like taking a peek into the political gossip of the country. Gossip is gossip.

Of course one can't talk about the media without also talking about the television media. I list the main television channels:

Weekly VTuber Spotlight: Shigure Ui - April 05th, 2020

Shigure Ui | しぐれうい

Shigure Ui, also referred to as Ui-mama, is a VTuber who officially debuted on 18th of May, 2019. However, she first appeared in the Virtual Youtuber circles much earlier, being the illustrator of Hololive’s Oozora Subaru. During a November 2nd stream in 2018 with Oozora Subaru, Shigure Ui debuted her initial character design. Two months later on January 1 2019, with Subaru’s support to become a VTuber, Shigure Ui set her official debut in motion. She then debuted her Live 2D avatar on April 20th, 2019, and had her first stream on the 17th of May, 2019.
Shigure Ui herself is from Yokkachi, Mie of the Kansai region of Japan, and currently lives in Tokyo. First serialized in Houbunsha in 2015 to 2016, she graduated from a Visual Arts university in 2017 then found employment in a game company before finding success as an illustrator for Light Novels in 2018, quitting her job in the game company in the process. Since then, Shigure Ui has worked as an illustrator for various Light Novels, a character designer for WIXOSS, OP/ED illustrator cards for various Anime, and, of course, collaborated on a Natori Sana doujinshi.
A self-professed JK lover, (which is why she crafted a 16 year old 149cm tall F Cup JK), she personally prefers 17 year old second-year JKs, and claimed to have drawn a JK during her university entrance exams, talking passionately enough about her love of JKs that she got approval from the university entrance interviewer. A self-claimed spiritualist who can predict the future to some extent, she has admitted that she’s likely too dumb to properly recognize a spirit even if she were to meet one, and is quite terrible at horror games. Was tested to be 76 years old in Nintendo’s Brain Age, and was further revealed to be the “Dummy of the Oozora Family”.
She likes refreshing, light foods, such as cabbage and cucumbers, and loves dairy products. Hates carrots, cannot eat spicy foods to save her own life, and dislikes carbonated drinks. Has a pet java finch that she loves, and frequently gives updates on. Uses CLIP STUDIO PAINT to draw, with a Wacom cintiq13HD drawing tablet.

Hi everyone and thanks for reading this week's spotlight. This week's spotlight was written by ChineseMaple.
A bit off-topic but recently there have been a number of posts with titles that would fall under clickbait. I'd just like to remind people that while it's not currently a hard rule; please don't create clickbait titles for threads as it is generally bad reddiquette if you do so.

Chihayafuru 3 Companion Guide - S3E22

<-- Previous (S3E21) | Next (S3E23)
Poem of the Day: Gazing At The Falling Rains
The Japanese title of S3E22 is ながめせしまに or "Nagame seshi ma ni" (Crunchyroll: Just as my beauty has faded), which refers to the last line of Poem 9 by Ono no Komachi, a famous Japanese poet and a member of The Six Immortals. Ono no Komachi's fame extends beyonds poetry, in fact the word "komachi" is still synonymous with feminine beauty in Japan, especially due to legends of her beauty and not much being known about her life, other than poems that chronicle her romantic relationships with many men of note. Rather than following Mostow's translation, we'll use Porter's translation this time, as it seems to make the wordplay that defines Poem 9 a little more explicit in English and easier to tie into this week's episode:
The blossom's tint is washed away
By heavy showers of rain;
My charms, which once I prized so much,
Are also on the wane,
Both bloomed, alas! in vain.
In Mostow's translation, he explains that the third line (Itazura ni) means "in vain" could technically modify either the previous line, or the one after, or both. He also explains that:
The poem uses word-play around furu which could mean to either "fall (as in rain)" or "to pass time", while nagame could mean both "to gaze lost in thought" or "long rains" (長雨, naga-ame)
Porter elucidates on this and we think his explanation is a little clearer, especially given context from Mostow above:
The first and last couplets may mean either 'the blossom's tint fades away under the continued downpour of rain in the world', or 'the beauty of this flower (i.e. herself) is fading away as I grow older and older in this life'; while the third line dividing the two couplets means, that the flower's tint and her own beauty are alike only vanity. This verse, with its double meaning running throughout, is an excellent example of the characteristic Japanese play upon words.
And lastly, Jlit captures the theme of the poem -- the juxtaposition of the cherry blossom and woman to illustrate the transience of life -- as well as the technical terms that are stripped away in the other explanations:
The central image of the fading cherry blossoms is a conventional reference to the transience of human life. This conceit was already sufficiently established in Komachi's day for the reader to understand that "flower" (hana) referred specifically to cherry blossoms. Structurally, the poem is broken grammatically after the second line (a technique called niku-gire) and makes use of tōchihō ("grammatical inversion"; the first two lines would normally follow the last three) to increase the dramatic effect.
Episode Poem in Context
Crunchyroll translates #09 (ha-na-no) as:
So the flower has wilted during the long spring rains, just as my beauty has faded during my forlorn years in this world.
And in Japanese, the entire poem reads as follows:
Hana no iro wa
Utsuri ni keri na
Itazura ni
Waga mi yo ni furu
Nagame seshi ma ni
This is the fourth time this card has been an episode card, and as can be seen below, the first three instances of the title have actually fully covered all five lines of the poem already. One can see how bad Crunchyroll's translations are just by comparing the English and Japanese titles between all four episodes below (though S2 OVA lacks a Crunchyroll English title because it was a BD/DVD special episode). S1E22 and S3E22's titles are exactly the same in English, but are vastly different in Japanese.
S1E22 - Utsuri ni keri na / Itazura ni (Just As My Beauty Has Faded) S2E1 - Hana no iro wa (So The Flower Has Wilted) S2OVA - Waga mi yo ni furu / Nagame seshi ma ni (unknown title) S3E22 - Nagame seshi ma ni (Just as my beauty has faded)
In this case, the English episode title is way off. But S3E22 shares a poem line with S2OVA's Japanese title anyway. So the question that needs to be asked is, why this repetition of the #09 poem? This title (again) plays around with the double meanings of both the 4th and 5th line, and the translation of the episode title is "To gaze/ponder" or "long rains". Both of these translations play off the double meaning of the word Nagame, with the rest of the line supporting that verb and the preceding line of the poem.
The more obvious answer is that besides S1E22, which was the Chihaya vs Yumi match, all the other three episodes featured Sumire and her attempts to make a move on Taichi, which makes sense given this is her poem ("Hana no"):
But there's an additional Chihayafuru-centric pun here, as the "shima" in "Nagame seshima ni" also refers to the "shima" in Mashima Taichi, as well. This "shima" kanji in Taichi's name is 島, or island. Put together, the episode title becomes "To gaze/ponder (upon) Taichi" and "Long rains (upon) Taichi."
From there, it's not difficult to see that both the "gaze upon Taichi" and the "Long rains upon Taichi" are two aspects of the girls' feelings towards him in this episode -- arguably, the first representing Chihaya and the second (tears) representing Sumire, although both girls and even Kana have a bit of both aspects in their watching over him, so one can certainly argue it either way.
There are lines supporting this theme all over the episode, but in particular, the fact that there is a play on words with his name at all is alluded to a couple times within the show as well, for example with the Sumire classroom scene during White Day between the 18 and 19 minute mark, when they literally talk about Taichi's name, as well as off-the-cuff comments like Sumire talking to Kana about eyelash extensions, as that's Taichi's nickname in the Shiranami Society.
Pre-OP
00:29 - Chihaya recites #33 (hi-sa). 00:31 - Chihaya recites #85 (yo-mo).
These are the only two cards read out in this entire episode, so they're definitely significant in some way. To us, Chihaya (#17) reading the #33 card is a symbolic reference to the club, not only because she's reading the card for the club, but because (as mentioned in previous episodes, like our S3E18 writeup when Harada sends them flying, the #17 and #33 are forever linked on the club recruitment poster that we even see again this episode as the clubroom door is opened at 10:34. The first tournament that Mizusawa won as a team was also the 33rd Tokyo Regionals, and so that number has always been inextricably linked with Mizusawa team unity.
The other card, the #85 (yo-mo), has been most significant this season in S3E5. Specifically, it's the card in this scene at 07:56 of that episode, where Chihaya and Taichi both won the card from their rivals to lead 2-1 in their semi-finals in a fit of beautiful synchronicity. But arguably, that was the last time they were in sync with each other. After that card, Chihaya won her match (2-0 vs Haruka) before Taichi (1-0 vs Suou), following which they faced off against each other in a game where Taichi changed his identity and playstyle. And then, Arata barged in to throw Taichi off for the entire season with his stair declaration about Chihaya belonging to the both of them in the aftermath of his loss, a mental blow that he's only just recovering from now in the past two episodes.
From these, we can see that both cards represent unity -- team unity and emotional unity -- the main theme that this entire filler episode is about. This synchronicity issue between Chihaya and Taichi here, symbolically represented by the #85 card, is followed up by Chihaya stating it plainly,
00:34 - Chihaya: "It looks like he's just... playing karuta. Taichi... Why did you enter the Takamatsu Memorial Cup alone? What happened in your match with Arata? I'm so close to you all the time, so why can't I ask you these things anymore?"
Chocolate making scene (Wed, Feb 13 2013)
03:36 - Sumire: "In fact, I'd venture to say that chocolate-making for beginners is all about making something far removed from chocolate and presenting it as chocolate." 03:45 - Sumire: "If a beginner just melts chocolate bars and reforms them into different shapes, you can't temper it, so it'll just separate and drop in quality. If you stick close to the original chocolate, it'll never match up to the stuff you can buy in stores."
Those above lines are straightforward allusions to the theme of identity and differing karuta playstyles that has been prevalent throughout S3. The song they make chocolate to is Verse 1 of the Mizusawa school anthem, which we have previously heard played in S2E7, a very similar episode to this one, that also started with Mr. Fukasaku talking about the content of the upcoming final exams, and Chihaya doodling on her paper in response. But either way, this promotes the idea of the club and school unity, something that we have seen to be fractured over the course of this season as various other allegiances bubble and boil through Yoshino and Omi Jingu.
The other time the school anthem has been mentioned is in S3E3, when Taichi hummed it to clear his mind, just before Arata approached him. From this angle, too, one can link up symbolism with the girls trying to break Taichi free of the negative thoughts on his mind, and giving him a fresh start with the chocolate. Using this line of logic, it then becomes a bit ironic that the box itself is empty once it's opened in the club room, since that is his ideal state when Taichi hums the song to clear his mind.
Another take away from here is that all the girls have different reasons for making the chocolate. Chihaya wants to see Taichi smile again, Sumire wants Taichi to look at her and consider her, and Kana, who has no interest in Taichi, is watching over both Sumire and Chihaya and wants everyone to cheer up. This ties back to the episode title, and the notion that people are gazing upon/crying over Taichi, but just like how the nagame pun allows for multiple interpretations of the line, everyone has a slightly different reason for doing so as well, even though the end result is the same.
And lastly, we've talked about the gesture of giving food to someone else in this season, and how that might be represent a way to getting one's feelings across to someone else, although often with hilariously bad results (Yuu to Arata, Suou and his dorayaki to everyone he meets, Chihaya to Shinobu, and so on). In a reverse interpretation of that idea, it seems like it was a good thing overall that Chihaya's dad emptied out her chocolate box for her, since that seems to have been the catalyst that inspired Chihaya to create the Taichi Cup!
I expected the presents that Chihaya's dad gave her "and for your friends", too!" to make an appearance later on in the episode, but as far as I am aware that did not materialize. Instead, we go along to a series of miscellaneous scenes.
Firstly, Chihaya stares at a calendar here at 11:43. In earlier seasons, calendars were a source of great amusement -- they usually had the wrong days of the week attached to real life dates. But not this season -- on this calendar, March 01 2013 is a Friday; in real life, it's also a Friday. The only other calendar we've seen in Season 3 was in the doctor room in S3E2. In that writeup, we had said that it incorrectly showed September 01 2012 as being on a Monday there, but upon further review it probably was meant to actually show October 01 2012, which was indeed a Monday.
By the end of the episode, we're able to map several dates out on the calendar. The chocolate making event took place on Wed, Feb 13 2013, Sumire's confession and the first clubroom meetup on Thu Feb 14. Taichi's reciprocation to Sumire and her subsequent breakdown happen on Thu Mar 14, or White Day. The Japanese school year generally has its vacations in the last week of March and first week of April, so that would have been Mar 23 to Apr 07. The new school year then will begin on Apr 08, with Chihaya, Taichi, Arata, and so on in their 3rd year of high school. Sounds like a good place to end the season! But in the meantime, both Taichi's birthday and the Taichi Cup take place on Tue, Apr 02, and Chihaya's invitation to go to hanami with Taichi is scheduled for Sat, Apr 06.
We then see a number of graduation scenes happening across the various schools. There are a few minor notes here and there, as many themes that are prevalent throughout Season 3 all get a brief mention:
Fujisaki -- The scene with Makoto and Rion immediately ties in to the Bonus section from S3E21's writeup, and the idea of split allegiances at the end of the Heian Period and the start of the Kamakura one, with people having to decide where to cast their lot with.
Homei -- This scene highlights gender and age issues in a fairly straightforward manner, with a school gender mix that feels like it escaped from a romcom. The entire episode is narrated from a female point of view, except for three segments: This Homei scene, the bar scene from Taichi's point of view, and the next Hokuo segment from no one specific person's point of view. This scene is also the only one narrated from an adult's point of view.
Hokuo -- This one is also straightforward, dealing with pride and honour and the passing of the torch. Retro getting support from Amakasu and his club as the next president plays into the "people problems" that he has from S3E21, hopefully helping him to overcome his insecurities and maybe be able to win a "hito" (person) card again sometime in the future, on his journey to become Meijin.
But these three scenes are tied together by Chihaya texting Rion, Tsuboguchi, and then Retro (though it's uncertain when she exchanged numbers with Retro..), and that shows the power of all the connections that she has made through the first three seasons. More specifically, it is summed by the Miyauchi-sensei's words following those scenes:
15:29 - Miyauchi: "College entrance exams test not only textbook knowledge, but everything you've learnt in your lives."
Similarly, succeeding at karuta isn't just about the textbook knowledge about the game, but all the other intangibles as well. The people you meet, moods and feelings, intuition, and so on. And here she utilizes the first one to bring a number of rivals together for Taichi's sake.
We also have some really ominous words from Taichi here, and that, coupled together with Komano's scores showing that he scored 3rd in the grade (2nd in the Science track) when he usually scores 2nd in the grade (S3E15 04:33) behind Taichi in the Science track, implies that someone who isn’t in Science scored better than him and may have beaten Taichi as well. Which might lead to dire consequences for him, as per S1E20 18:07.
White Day (Thu, Mar 14)
We've talked a little about the eyelash extension/serum scene at 11:47 onwards, and how that represents Taichi and his name, since that's his nickname in the Shiranami Society. This is also the reason that Sumire gives her eyelash serum to Kana at around the 20:00 mark or so, saying that she no longer needs it -- this is her giving up on Taichi once he gave her an answer, as can be seen by the flashback right after. But yet, she still prioritizes him and the club, and defends the secrecy of Chihaya's plan.
There's one visual symbol of note here as well, and that's the crystalline things flying up from Sumire to Taichi as he gives her the gift, raising her hopes, before dashing them again. This happens three times in the episode -- the two earlier times are when Sumire confesses around 09:45, as they flow down from her to him to no one in particular. Those things seem to represent passion or strong feelings, we've seen them now and then through the season, but there seemed to be more than usual in this episode, as one might expect from a Valentine's Day/White Day episode.
Taichi's Birthday (Tue, Apr 02)
Finally, we get a bit of a weird scene because it looks like Taichi and Chihaya are going flower-viewing already, even though we've shown that his birthday isn't on a Saturday, but a Tuesday. This part seems out of place unless one argues that they're just scouting out places for the Saturday event. Anyway, they end up at the Fuchu City Katamachi Cultural Center, which is the Shiranami Society meeting place -- again, this plays into allegiances, as Chihaya has managed to summon people from several different schools to this one for this one special day.
The episode then ends on a ridiculous picture centering on Taichi, a scene where the entire Mizusawa team, plus the Tsukubros, is lined up to either side behind Taichi. Despite his ominous-sounding words about being impossible to balance studying and club stuff, this shows that for this one day, at least, his entire team is behind him. There are no signs of affiliations here -- the people on both sides of him are not divided by society, love interest, gender, age, or even blood -- they're actually almost perfectly split (plus or minus one) along any of those metrics to either side of him!
Bonus
This is more of a question for the community as there's no way for me to go back through all the episodes to look out for this one specific thing, but where else has the pattern used for the Taichi Cup t-shirt been used? They alluded to this near the end, with,
20:30 - Kana: "Who made this design for the T-shirts?!" 20:33 - Nishida: "My sister's already started making them!"
And that made me curious as well. Within this episode, it's used in two places -- the tablecloth in the middle of the episode, and Chihaya's pencilcase, which has changed from last year (S2E7). Which is a very weird coincidence in itself. But it's almost definitely been used in other places too, I seem to remember that much, just not exactly where. It is similar to, but not exactly, Sakura's dress in S1E18.

ONE COLD NIGHT IN NOVEMBER - PART II

The following four-part-article was a collaborative effort. Although I wrote the text, the article and its hypothesis were developed and researched by a fellow German truther, nicknamed “Watson”, and myself as a team. What we present is the result of more than a month of excruciating research. Special thanks to HNBRY, for encouraging us when we thought we couldn’t go on, and to the board of moderators for agreeing to read this in advance.

3. Operation "Framing Avery"

3.1. THE LAST TEMPTATION OF COLBORN

November 5, 2005, at 11.45 am, after the RAV-4 of TH has been re-discovered on the Avery Salvage Yard, the decision is made to turn over the split investigation, in which Manitowoc had been involved, officially, because TH disappeared in that county, and Calumet had been, because TH lived and was reported missing in that County, to Calumet entirely. (http://www.stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/MTSO-Summary-Report-on-Homicide-Investigation.pdf#page=9)

The involvement of Manitowoc becomes problematic the moment the name Avery appears, because his wrongful conviction lawsuit against the Manitowoc Sheriff’s Department is still pending. However this seems to be for appearance only, since Manitowoc officers stay on the case and stay directly involved in the search of the Salvage Yard as well as the discovery of key evidence – pun intended. If our hypothesis should turn out be correct, than Calumet officials do still not know anything about the secret history of the RAV-4 when they are taking over the case. At 8.45 pm the RAV4 is transported to the Wisconsin Crime Lab in Madison, where it arrives at 1.15 am.

November 7, 2005 Mr. Groffy from the Wisconsin Crime Lab talks to TF via phone and explains it was discovered that the battery in the RAV-4 had been disconnected (which would have required the opening of the hood by the person who did that)
On the very same day Mike Riddle from the WSCL discovers 8 latent fingerprints on the RAV-4 that later all proved unidentifiable. These are not SA’s fingerprints. One of those unidentified prints is found on the hood of the RAV-4. (http://www.stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Jury-Trial-Transcript-Day-18-2007Mar07.pdf#page=148)

This marks the first instance that the hood of the RAV-4, and the thought about things that may have happened under said hood, enter the CASO report and probably the minds of the lead investigators TF and MW.
It is all the more important to point out how unusual and frankly very strange it is, that SA is never asked about the hood or the hood latch or the car battery. TF and MW never question him about it. SA does say as much, that it is possible he touched the car on the outside, when leaning against it, while paying off TH and getting the newest issue of Auto Trader from her. (https://youtu.be/m-5ZUFmV2lU?t=1714)

But nobody ever asked him, if he opened the hood. His interrogations never even tackle the issue.

It seems that TF and MW were not at all bothered by the knowledge that someone had been beneath the hood of the RAV-4 – which is a very open indicator, that they had no reason to, because they did know anything about the transportation in the night from November 3rd to 4th, yet.

TF and MW wait until March 2006 to ask that very question, and they do not ask SA, but his 16 year old alibi. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qkn8AJPSUs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4T9k48VbUEI&feature=youtu.be)

November 8, 2005 At 9 am the license plates of TH’s RAV-4, whose traces might or might not lead all the way back to the night of November 3, 2005, are found far from the vehicle itself, in a station wagon, and folded together. (http://www.stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/CASO-Investigative-Report.pdf#page=157)

At around 9.15 am the first parts of TH’s remains are discovered near the burn pit. (http://www.stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Jury-Trial-Transcript-Day-13-2007Feb28.pdf#page=27)

The same day sees the magical discovery of TH’s valet key, with which the car was allegedly driven to the Avery Salvage Yard, in SA’s bedroom.
The event takes place around noon.

It was technically discovered, more exactly produced, by a Manitowoc officer tightly connected to the illegal transportation of the RAV-4 during the “Manitowoc Framing”: AC.

Remember AC’s testimony as well as Kucharski’s testimony who, regardless of major differences between those two versions (especially concerning the whereabouts of officer Lenk), both agreed that AC created a crack in the back panel of a bookcase, by stuffing its contents violently back in. And, as claimed later, it was through this crack the valet key is to have fallen, when AC tipped and rattled the bookcase, a mysterious procedure which not only left the items on top of the bookcase completely untouched, made the tape that must have held the key in its hidden position disappear into thin air, but also allowed the key to break the laws of physics and describe a 90 degree turn while still in the air. (http://www.stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/MTSO-Summary-Report-on-Homicide-Investigation.pdf#page=14)

We – supported by the later found impossible DNA anomalies on that item - logically conclude that a) this is another part of the “Manitowoc Framing” b) it is the easiest and most reasonable explanation that AC was not given the valet key shortly before, but - given his direct connection with the illegal transportation – was simply still having it from that occasion.

And that it was wiped clean of DNA before – accounting for the absence of TH’s DNA- because AC or his company during that transportation night touched it without gloves.

3.2. PRESUMED GUILTY

On November 9, 2005… … the leading Calumet investigators TF and MW are involved in, what turns out to be, the overture to the first part of the “Calumet framing”. (https://static1.squarespace.com/static/55203379e4b08b1328203a7d/t/593959e0c534a5d8325b9f5b/1496930822077/2017.06.07+-+Motion+for+Post-Conviction+Relief2.pdf#page=86)

KZ, within her June 2017 Motion For Post-Conviction Relief describes, what happened that day, in these words:

“Two groin swabs were taken from Mr. Avery at Aurora Medical Center by a nurse on November 9, 2005. Mr. Avery was escorted by Inv. Wiegert to Aurora Medical Center at approximately 1.20 pm.
Agent Fassbender met Inv. Wiegert, who was escorting Mr. Avery for the examination. Mr. Avery was taken into an examination room. Present in the examination room were Faye Fritsch, RN and SANE Medical Director Laura Vogel-Schwartz, MD.

Towards the end of the examination, Nurse Fritsch took two swabs of Mr. Avery's groin area in direct contravention of the search warrant, which specifically restricted that DNA samples were to be taken from Mr. Avery's saliva and blood. There was no reference to groin swabs in the search warrant. Significantly, Nurse Fritsch's documentation of taking swabs from Mr. Avery excludes any mention of taking groin swabs.

A well-qualified nurse following acceptable standards of charting would never fail to document taking the groin swabs unless she were instructed not to document taking the groin swabs by Agent Fassbender or Inv. Wiegert. Agent Fassbender and Inv. Wiegert conferred and determined that the search warrant did not call for that type of exam. Inv. Wiegert immediately stopped Fritsch and the exam was concluded."

Again, Nurse Fritsch would ever have taken the groin swabs without being specifically instructed to do so by Agent Fassbender and Inv. Wiegert. Agent Fassbender and Inv. Wiegert's explanation that they did not realize that the search warrant did not call for taking groin swabs is not credible.

Furthemore, according to Agent Fassbender’s report, Nurse Fritsch disposed of the groin swabs. Agent Fassbender's report is not credible because Nurse Fritsch never mentions, in her charting, disposing of the groin swabs. Agent Fassbender's report directly contradicts Mr. Avery's account of this examination as described in his affidavit.

Contrary to Agent Fassbender’s report, Inv. Wiegert told Nurse Fritsch that he would discard the swabs while Agent Fassbender escorted Mr. Avery into a separate room to get his fingerprints. As Mr. Avery followed Agent Fassbender and Nurse Fritsch out of the examination room, Mr. Avery heard Inv. Wiegert tell Nurse Fritsch to give him the groin swabs, and Mr. Avery observed Inv. Wiegert walk to the examination room receptacle as if to discard the groin swabs.

Mr. A very observed that Inv. Wiegert did not drop the groin swabs into the receptacle.

Inv. Wiegert, as an experienced investigator, would have known that taking groin swabs was not authorized by the search warrant, which permitted only the collection of saliva and blood samples.

It is therefore reasonable to conclude, from this clear violation of Mr. Avery's Fourth Amendment rights, that Inv. Wiegert planned to use the illegally seized groin swabs from Mr. Avery to plant Mr. Avery's DNA on other crime scene evidence.”

On November 9 however, the RAV-4 is already in custody at the Wisconsin Crime Lab in Madison, therefore an application to of the probe to the actual vehicle is not possible. The valet key on the other hand, by that time, is already secured as evidence and probably also on its way to the Crime lab.

So if TF and MW created those two groin swabs by intentionally misinterpreting their search warrant and then interrupt so that that those two samples would need no further accounting for – what would have been their purpose?

Since this happens to be one of (at least) two circumstances that show TF and MW pre-planning a planting, we deduce it is reasonable to assume, they probably felt, this might turn out to be an insurance to “get the bad guy at any cost”, i.e. they may have felt justified to frame a guilty person in order to secure a later conviction. And that might have been the reason to take those DNA probes in advance, just in case they would be needed at a later date.

This pretty dangerous line of thinking, unfortunately, is absolutely not uncommon amongst the black sheep in law enforcement – quite the contrary. Police officers, of a lesser ethical and professional standard, than usually required, sometimes resort to this kind of relativism.

Marc Fuhrman from the OJ Simpson case comes to mind, who in the now infamous Fuhrman tapes not only displayed the most open, blunt and disgusting racism, but also his point of view about police work: Beating black defendants and witnesses until they bleed, preferably with telephone books who leave no visible bruises, and then plant evidence to secure a conviction, summing it up as
“that’s how you get information […] that’s what police work actually is.”

People who think like Mr. Fuhrman, regarding professionalism, obviously were in the Manitowoc police force in 2005.

And at least two of them worked in the Calumet police force.
They may have even thought about the Avery/Dassey family:
“This is a one branch family tree. Cut this tree down. We need to end the gene pool here.”

Even if TF and MW may have believed Avery to be guilty at that time, it neither diminishes nor justifies their wrongdoing – not the slightest bit.

Framing another person for a crime, just because you think he or she is guilty, is a morally reprehensible and indefensible act for many reasons, the most important of which are:

November 9, 2005, not only brings the first documented instance, where TF and MW strayed from the path of righteousness.

It also marks the exit of AC from the CASO report.

Until November 9 his name appeared 104 times in the CASO investigative report. From November 9, page 185, onwards he completely…..disappears.

He is only re-introduced in the re-investigation of JB and DS’s allegations regarding his and Lenk’s behavior in the investigation, around March 2007, during the trial (page 1026). In the Dassey trial protocols his name is referenced no more than 9 times, and he is never called to testify.

If you would tend to be suspicious, one would almost think, they tried to keep him out as much as possible. Wouldn’t you?

3.3. THE FALL GUY

After the examination of the RAV-4 at the Wisconsin Crime Lab in Madison has come to an end, and after the vehicle is transported to the Calumet County storage unit in Chilton, Mary Avenue, container 7, on November 11, 2005, (http://www.stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/CASO-Investigative-Report.pdf#page=230) the attentive observant can notice a remarkable hiatus in the ongoing Halbach investigation.

Although the work itself continues in a low key fashion, there is no relevant action regarding the RAV-4 and zero mentioning of the hood during December ’05 and January ’06.

The main reason may lie in the fact, that a lot of samples have been stored into evidence and are by that time being processed and (more or less) carefully examined in the WSCL, which at this time suffers from a heavy work overload.

TF and MW on the other hand seem as calm as confident with respect to their case, probably because SC has confirmed for them on November 14 that the 6 drops and one smear of blood in the interior of the car come from SA. (http://www.stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Steven-Avery-Trial-Exhibit-311.pdf)

Everything, to them, falls into its place and fits together, no need to talk about hood latches and car batteries during those somber winter months, no irritation dawns on the horizon. They probably think, they have an open and shut case.

It is not until late in February 2006 that the investigation and Calumet officers’ interest for the first time turn to the victim’s car again, during one of the most tragic and devastating occasions of the entire case: The unforgivable psychological abuse and manipulation of 16 year old BD that, authorities gone mad, dared to label as “interrogations”.

February 27, 2006
Starting at 12.30 am, the five interrogation sessions in which TF and MW manipulate and instrumentalize BD to confirm, actually repeat like a robot on a sentence-by-sentence basis, their narrative of the case and implicate SA and himself in rape and murder, set in. (http://www.stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/CASO-Investigative-Report.pdf#page=439)

During the first interview which takes place in a secluded room at Mishicot High School, BD while trying to guess how TH might have been killed and obviously completely unaware that she had to have been shot, introduces the idea of a stabbing. When asked where that imaginary knife might be now, he guesses the first place he knows, where one would not see and therefore not yet have found it: Under the driver’s seat of TH’s car.

While the second Interview in the afternoon takes place, Deputy Hawkins drives to Chilton and searches the RAV-4 for a knife under the front seat of the car, around 6.15 pm. (http://www.stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/CASO-Investigative-Report.pdf#page=513 The photos: https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21AO9RuA1XWnXd70w&id=8F405E002A3D1E98%211529&cid=8F405E002A3D1E98)

It stays one of the shockingly few attempts to actually corroborate any part of BD’s so called “confessions”.
Hawkins finds no knife in the RAV-4.

On the evening of February MW and TF arrange for BD and his mother to spend the night in a nearby motel, the Fox Hill Resort, in order to “protect” or , rather, isolating them from family. A third, secret interrogation of a potentially extremely exhausted BD takes place, at that motel, at night time. No protocol, summary report or recording of that interrogation will ever see the light of day.

One day later, February 28, 2006: Officer Dedering (Calumet) drives to Chilton, searching the RAV-4 a second time, taking out the seat cushions and carpet for further testing. (http://www.stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/CASO-Investigative-Report.pdf#page=521).

Those two visits to the RAV-4 on February 27/28 demonstrate clearly, that the Calumet investigators tried to corroborate the Dassey statements, yet could not. This is why we propose that they still thought Avery must be guilty.

Their crooked logic might have played out like this: If Avery is guilty, then BD, his teenage alibi, must by necessity be lying if he says he knows nothing, and if BD’s later confession does not add up, well, then he still must be lying.

And how does TF open the March 1st interrogation, once they arrived at the Manitowoc Sheriff’s Department?

Quote:
“And, and that’s why we kinda came here, to let you talk a little, maybe get some stuff off your mind or chest if you need to and then to tell us the whole truth, […], because if our guy looked at, looked at the tapes, looked at the notes, it’s real obvious there’s some places where some things were left out or maybe changed just a bit ta, to maybe lookin’ at yourself to protect yourself a little.”

It is undeniably an enormous tragedy that those two Calumet investigators due to their limited skills, their dilettantism, their axiomatic belief in SA’s guilt and blinded by the dangerous nonsense of the Reid Technique, never once asked themselves, if BD was maybe never lying, but simply knew nothing about the crime he “confessed” because he was absolutely innocent.
SA’s 16 year old alibi became his fate, because through his suggestibility he became a windfall for Calumet officials, who enabled them to inject their very own fantasies about the murder into the investigation.

They may have thought they had a full interview partner, they could use any way they chose, when in reality they had only a parrot, guessing and speculating for his life in order to desperately please those who questioned him so vigorously.

TF and MW’s axiomatic belief in Avery’s guilt was also what lead to their near fatal mistake, when during the March 1st interrogation, they lead BD back to that RAV-4 and to the hood latch, thereby unintentionally to the illegal transportation of the car in November 2005 and on the fading trail of a certain Manitowoc police officer, named Andrew Colborn.

March 1, 2006
TF and MW enter the interrogation room with several premeditated conceptions:

And they bring into it two narratives, they think to be vastly substantiated and therefore intend to “get out” of BD:

Only, they do not get those confirmations “out of” BD, they put them “into his head”.

And, for the second time, they feel free and justified to a frame a seemingly guilty person. They introduce every single detail about Item FL, the bullet, into the confession, probably with one purpose and one purpose only, to have the possibility to accomplish what the crime scene investigation could not: To “put her in his house or garage”(TF), if SC could not manage to do it otherwise, i.e. according to the book.
They are creating an option.
This is the second pre-planned planting that TF and MW, and with them Calumet, can be connected to.

None of their two little insurances has been put to use yet as of March 1.
During the March 1 interrogation TF introduces, before BD ever mentions any of it, the license plates and the hood (page 603 document, 78/79 pdf):
https://imgur.com/4ya12SO https://imgur.com/WBnzQ0n

TF, as a matter of completing their narratives and tie the loose ends, introduces the idea that SA removed the license plate, BD confirms, TF hints at something else that SA might have done to the car, IN the car, that he raised the hood. BD, after guessing incorrectly once, does what he always does: He nods and confirms.

TF tries to close the circle by asking again
“what did he do under the hood?” and then, suddenly, remembers that this might look a tad bit pushy and adds “if that’s what he did”.

To TF and MW this seems to be a completely harmless line of questions. They know that somebody, the perpetrator, removed the license plates and went under that hood to disconnect that battery cables. Never would they have dreamed of asking those questions had they had the smallest suspicion about the “secret history of the RAV-4”.

They would have avoided them at any cost.

This is why we deduce, they did not know yet, that day.
And let us not forget: They think that SA is guilty and that the lab will find and produce traces of him on the car – and if it cannot, well, there is always the little “groin swab” insurance, they were clever enough creating and securing in advance.

Yet, what the two investigators did unfortunately not realize, was what happened during that same interview in passing.
They, as we conclude, unknowingly and unintentionally, introduced the hood and the license cables of the car battery and therefore touched on something which could and would lead directly to the gravest part of the “Manitowoc Framing” – the illegal transportation of the RAV-4 onto the Avery property in the night from November 4 to November 5, 2005, and the fate of one Manitowoc officer named AC.
They had put a chainsaw to the branch they’re sitting on, without knowing they did. That, however, would change drastically at a later point in time.

The time to put the groin swabs and Item FL to use was soon to come….

4. Lost in Documentation: The Judson- Call Report

One most important thing, one hast to understand before we actually get into the argument about that specific document, the “Judson Call report”, is the realization that the CASO report is an extremely unreliable document when it comes to chronology and dates.

There are basically two lines: There is the chronological sequence in the document itself that displays the entry in the report by page numbers (1-1116). And then there is the course of the dates of activity written on the respective reports.

Those two lines are, extremely often, not even remotely in concurrence and even heavily conflicting.

For example:
There might be a document about a March 10 activity on page 695, but on the very following page, we are suddenly on February 27, while the next page 697 leads us 16 days further to March 15, although one page later, we suddenly find ourselves 6 days earlier, on March 9.

That’s the harmless version. It gets even worse:
You will often find a jumping back and forth between months, sometimes over several months, sometimes multiple times regarding one and the same jump.

There are several mini-chronologies which seem to work for some pages, until they get broken again (and again, and again.) For example: Working chronologies of March restart no less than 9 different times. Chronologies involving the merry month of May restart 4 different times. And so on, and so on.

Here is how this looks visually (every red line marks the end of a mini-chronology and the start of a new one): https://imgur.com/QNynGLt

So you can either follow the entry chronology, then you won’t get a chronology of the investigational activities; (This is, how it looks, in an analysis of the relevant section of the CASO report: https://imgur.com/Eufstpn) or you follow the dates of activity (re-arranged the same section would look like this: https://imgur.com/qV2i5ok), then you have a completely random report where you can’t understand what was entered when.

So, with all that given, what actually can you count on?

Taking into consideration that in comparison the investigative report of another Manitowoc affiliated case, the Hochstetler case (http://www.stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Ricky-Hochstetler-MTSO-Report_Redacted.pdf), shows no such discrepancies , but the possibility to print out and number the pages by hand, it is clear that the difference lies in those possibilities. In the Avery investigation the page numbers were automatically created in a computer file that was later printed. It seems that a page number could not be electronically corrected and therefore neither could the chronology after the fact. That’s the most logical explanation for this apocalyptic chaos.

Therefore, regarding the actual sequence of events, the position a document has within that chronology is more reliable than whatever was written on it. And: Mass counts. Those areas in the CASO report where the overwhelming majority of reports from a certain month are assembled probably mark when entry time and activity date temporarily concur.

For these reasons the relation of the positions between certain documents can be more telling and reliable than the dates written onto them.

Argument:

I. Anomalies Are Pointing Away from July:

1.) The position of the Judson call report is illogical and appears displaced.

This document appears on page 873 of the CASO report, directly after a June 26 document. But following it is a June 21 report with an addendum from July 12 – both dates are a-chronological and disconnected toward the Judson call report. The next report, on page 876 refers to July 5 and should actually have been entered in the CASO report b e f o r e the Judson call report.

Over 70 % of all July files in the CASO report appear over 50 pages later than the Judson call report, which if genuine, would be the very first entry in July 2006. It is more logical that the Judson report was entered too early, than that more than 70% of the posts regarding July were entered so long after the date of activity. There are March, April, June and May entries between the Judson call report and the majority of the July files.

2.) There is another report displaying July 3rd as date of activity, but which is entered into the CASO report full 62 pages after the Judson call report.

3.) July 3rd, 2006 was a Monday, followed by a national holiday, i.e. 4th of July. July 2nd was a Sunday. Many shops and private business are closed on such a bridging day. Therefore it is an unlikely date for such an early morning business call.

II. The Existence Of The Judson Call In Report In July Would Be Inexplicable

4.) An investigation of the battery makes sense after the March 1st interrogation of BD, when first mentioned.

In July 2006 any information regarding it was already irrelevant for the mere surface of the CASO report, because on May 8 through SC it had been already (allegedly) established that there was no DNA on it, and on May 13 BD had denied that SA touched it.

5.) In July the car battery is no object of investigation any longer. It is the pre-trial phase of the case.

6.) If that report would stem from July, then the questions regarding the hood latch and the battery cable in BD’s May 13 interrogation would come absolutely out of thin air and without a necessity that triggers them.

7.) In July MW would have already known, must have known, that the battery was a toxic piece of evidence directly pointing at the illegal RAV-4 transportation. He would therefore have avoided documenting or even making the call. If the Judson report were from a July 3rd occurrence we would never have seen it.

III. The Position Of The Judson Call Report In Relation Points At March

8.) In the entry sequence of the CASO Report, events in April (the hood latch swabbing and the photography of the battery cables) which seem causally connected to it are entered chronologically (page numbers) AFTER the Judson call report.

Judson call report: Page 873
Battery cable photography: Page 886
Hood latch swabbing: Page 935

BOTH events which seem causally related to the Judson call report and are entered after it, took place in April. Which would logically place the call before them and therefore inevitably in March.
The causality between those three documents is so organic, so striking, that more than one researcher automatically placed the Judson call report in March.

IV. Discrepancies In The Fax To The Judson Call Point To A Possible Cover UP And March 7

9.) The Judson call report mentions that MW asked CJ to fax him schematics of the correct battery. That FAX never made it into the CASO report, probably to avoid unwanted back-checking by third parties.
It had later to be FOIA’d separately and will be linked and presented, thanks to the author of the “Know Your RAV-4” series, in the following chapter.

10.) The FAX that HNBRY FOIA’d was sent to him as a hard copy. That copy was conveniently cut off on the upper margin of the page, so that the date printed on it by the FAX machine is not visible. The FAX consists of two pages; both are cut off at the same spot.

11.) CJ wrote a date by hand on the cover sheet. He writes 7-3-2006, which in usual US reading would be understood as July 3.

However, in industry and business correspondence the European date format is widely used in the US and often mandatory (https://imgur.com/VjZmpRs source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_format_by_country). In the European date format this date reads and is understood as seventh day of the third month of 2006, or as 7th of March, 2006.
This was a business transaction of a car dealership.

Therefore we deduce that it is by far more logical to presume that the Judson call actually took place on March 7, 2006, and then, because of the dangerous information later discovered through it and using the date format discrepancy, the report was mislabeled, held back and planted into the CASO report on a later date (end of June), than to assume it was actually written out of thin air on July 3.

After all: The person we are accusing of doing this, has since been exposed by KZ to have forged a signature and switched evidence, to secure the conviction of an innocent man.

Quant Overledger [QNT] Compilation of AMA Oct. 8

I've compiled all the questions and answers from today's AMA. Every Monday the Quant team meets live with the 6000+ community in the QNT Telegram Group to conduct a weekly AMA (Ask Me Anything) session. Here’s the summary.
Q: Was there any reason why the team chose to create a ‘decentralized Amazon’ to show off the progress with connectors? It caused big interest. Thanks.
A: You know, I only expected a "hello world" MApp from the team to show cross-chain interoperability. They blew me away and created a truely decentralised Amazon that operates across 3 blockchains. Very proud!
Q: Does qnt offer any additional security against ddos viruses, mallware or any other cybehacking threats?
A: Yes, this is built in, coming from our Cybersecurity background. We're creating new Security infastructure in the space of Identity, Firewall, DPI and IPS that sits on top of Overledger, giving additional security controls to use blockchains which doesn't exist today.
Q: What exactly is the patent about and what does this imply (if granted) for other blockchain interoperability projects like aion, wan and icx?
A: The Patent was filed on 1st December as an EU Patent. It covers how we're doing ordering and filtering to protect the inner core of Overledger. It should be granted around the end of 2019. It just means other projects can not use our method and approach to have interoperabilty.
Q: Question from my side, Recently this twitter account released a press release of a partner ship with Quant Network. Could you elaborate on that ? https://twitter.com/AtlanticPowerX/status/1049179316754366464
A: We're building a new upstream Power Exchange. Allowing for closed P2P Power networks (like powerledger) to cross-exchange on a new Power Exchange with all the other P2P Power networks.
Q: Does the team have an update on the Zapier integration concept? Might we see Overledger working with 1000s of Apps one day via Zapier?
A: This is exciting for us. We're integrating Overledger with Zapier. This will allow us to bridge the thousands of internet applications to blockchain, through Overledger. Huge potential!
-Followup Q: Wow this is Massive! So Enterprises will be able to connect the data from their Apps (Excel, CRMs, ERPs)into Overledger - as well as cross connect blockchains? Correct?
A: Yes exactly. It's a leap into our 3rd phase of our strategy to connect the internet to blockchain. We cando this today rather than waiting 2-3 years! Every single Internet application can integrate withblockchain through Overledger. Quite groundbreaking
Q: Have you looked at connecting machine learning + AI blockchain consensus' like neurochain for increased diversity of overledger
A: Yes we're big fans of AI and have mentioned quite a few projects. We're in the final stages of announcing a partnership or JV with AI Nexus to create decentralised intelligence.
Q: Your post regarding the decentralized “Amazon” where you show a pic of XRP, ETH and BTC payments is pretty awesome, although why couldn’t you show the community some better proof like at least a video and even better - some proof on the blockchains?
A: We will be sharing some live demos over the next few weeks and a more detailed one during our Nov 20 Quant X event for developers. As Gilbert, mentioned, the MApp that the team shared blew us away and we wanted to share it real time. We will also be sharing demos for devs/chief architects etc on the Quant Dev Portal.
Q: Latoken listing was a mistake, there is zero activity on it. Would you consider this a fail?
A: Then you can use IDEX? Don't know what everyone wants, we've just started to list on exchanges, another 2-3 in the works. If you're not happy, sorry. We're not going to do everything for everyone. We have a set focus and vision to achieve.
Q: How many devs are currently working on the project and are you planning on expanding your team?I have seen only 5 people contributing on the Github and not sure if they have some real previous blockchain experience (I’m not exactly a programmer myself so perhaps I missed something)
A: We have done profiles of our team and their experiene with DLT on Medium as well as on our website - all quite experieced as you can see from their outputs. Rui and Alex's profile on Medium to be posted over the next two weeks.
-Followup Q: I know, but perhaps the team needs to be a little bigger, not sure if 5 devs are enough for this. Butafterall, maybe it is if the companies will use the SDK themselves
A: Thanks for the suggestion, but we're a good size and have the right capable and experienced team.Adding another 20 people to the team now isn't going to achieve anything.
Q: Where is the software hosted? i.e. my desktop computer's OS is on its hard drive, so where is the Overledger? Is it cloud-based like AWS/Azure, and if so who hosts the servers and where?
A: Good questions. It comes down to the developers. You can create MApps as a Webapp or Cloud, on an OS (Win/OSX/Linux) or Mobile (iOS/Android).
Q: Besides GoVerify Mapp, are there any other Mapps being developed by Quant that are interesting for financial institutions?
A: Yes, we have a few. A Cross-Trade Finance MApp to allow multiple supply chains using different systems and blockchains to talk to each other. Also are creating a cross-blockchain AML Compliance tool for Regulators and Financial Institutions. One thing to note here on this one - we are also building our MApps to utilize the QNT token. That is the beauty of having multi-purpose utility token versus a security token because you can add mutliple functions. We will reveal more over the coming months as we finalize the tech (somethings are senstive or competitive intelligence that we can't share) but this is something worth noting now because it doesn't begin and end with just the fee structures for Overledger.
Q: Whats the next connector after quorum? Was the quorum one mentioned before, any reason for that connector?
A: We want to work on the technology that our clients use the most.
Q: Does quant have control over APIs or can developers design their own because platform risk might be a concern.
A: Yes of course we control the APIs. We call them BPI (Blockchain Programming Interface).
Q: Token function - So assuming that the token is somewhat like a license for using the service, how much tokens would a company need in order to make for instance 1000 transactions from XRP to ETH per day? Would they need just 1 token or would it be scaled according to the usage somehow?
A: That's what we're working out currently, now that the SDK is out. We have team of internal and external technical, lawyers and economists on this. It's a new model that really hasn't been done before. What we know is that we will have a flexible pricing approach for MApps for developers to set the price/usage regarding tokens and volume.
Q: any idea when the US Bank/financial institution will be announced in october?
A: still in the works, we'll announce when we can.
Q: what do you hope to achieve from the QauntX event on Nov 20th? 2. Also, will you be capturing all the juicy content (photos, video, audio) for posting/sharing? Great opportunity for videos and images for marketing etc.
A: Absolutely will have it all captured on video as well as plenty of photos. The event is targeted predominantly to devs/architects and CIOs and to so we can provide live demos of the technology and show what is possible/answer questions. We also expect to use this as an opportunity to invite some of our clients so they can betterunderstand the tech and what is possible.
Q: In layman's terms where does QNT sit in the technology stack It's not it's own chain so how does it interact with chains , it's an operating system but where does it operate?" - Is there a quick way to help tech newbies understand how Overledger operates?
A: Think of it as running distributed across Cloud providers and then blockchains to provide the API gateways to blockchains.
Q: Is there a plan to actually market quant in the future as a license to take advantage of an ecosystem during the campaign
A: We're working on our marketing approach which is more directed to Enterprises. We're covering all the channels to use the best possible segment and reach. Here's some of areas we're looking into. From the release of the SDK, we've ramped this up and you'll be seeing a lot more on Quant, especially if you work in corporates:Targeting BlogsPublicityUnconventional PRSearch Engine Marketing (SEM)Social and Display AdsOffline AdsSearch Engine Optimization (SEO)Content MarketingEmail MarketingViral MarketingEngineering as MarketingBusiness Development (BD)SalesAffiliate ProgramsExisting PlatformsTrade ShowsOffline EventsSpeaking EngagementsCommunity Building
Q: Not really a question, but it'd be cool if you discuss the possibility of joining SAP partner edge, so many applications that quant can provide to those members. Ofc it's already cool that you're already in talks with a US bank
A: Thank you for the suggest. We can integrate easily to SAP or other ERP systems. We'll start looking in to it
Q: Can you also consider a “Connect IT with Quant” icon - bit like “Intel Inside”. This signifies that the app, MApp or blockchain can be connected via Quant (Overledger) etc. the icon can also be a link to the official integration page - hosted on your site - indicating it’s an official product/partner. The “IT” part is a play on words that IT folks will get.
A: Thank you Robin, like it! We've been playing around "Powered by Overledger" something like the "Intel Inside" tag line. Will come out with something catchy and effective
Q: Can overledger implement/integrate a privacy layer using something like TEE/MPC to protect sensitive/confidential data?
A: We already have that with TrustTag. It allows you to set privacy fields to tokenise data you don't want others to see
Q: A community member posted an article with a strong interopability focus: https://www.coindesk.com/ethereum-enterprise-alliance-hyperledger-blockchain-consortiums-join-forces/ Perhaps you guys could take a look and use it as an oppurtunity to gain some traction/awareness?
A: Thanks Luke. We've already connected Hyperledger and Ethereum to Overledger. We know the EEA/IBM teams and can discuss in more detail.
Q: will the team be releasing a ‘blockchain’ that can be used as a ‘test’ and/or ‘starter’ blockchain for Enterprises. Obviously it can be connected to others via Overledger later - but I see two Enterprise use cases: 1. Test bed easily scratched and reset; 2. Simple ledger for immutable storage - especially when Zapier allows Excel data to flow.
A: That's exactly the use case the new blockchain will solve. An appropriate enterprise-geared blockchain that provides better distributed storage for large amounts of data. It's a gap in the market the current generation of blockchains are solving or are not fit for purpose. One problem we have is we can't agree what to name it. Love to hear some suggestions
Q: Did you speak to any interested enterprises during the london fraud conference about GoVerify?
A: Yes, quite a few including Government. Following up with them this week.
Q: Is Dr John Lambert still an advisor for Quant Health? I noticed he recently moved to DXC and was wondering if this impacts his advisory role?
A: Yes he's still an advisor. We're looking to work closer with DXC on a couple of engagements in the UK and in Australia.
Q: Have you considered doing interviews with youtube crypto influencers/shillers. (paraphrased)
A: from my perspective we like to speak with credible influencers in the crypto space who don't operate under a 'cash for comments' fee structure which is why we are big fans of Brad. Some of the practices in the crypto space are not 'necessary evils' but highly unethical. Even the ones who claim 'never accept money for interviews' operate under undisclosed 'advisory' roles where they ask for extortianate rates in tokens. Also, over the last 10months Gilbert and Quant have been featured in New York Times, New Scientist Magazine, Politico, USNews, and even had an op ed published on Fox (which wasn't our target but it has massive reach so it doesn't hurt) plus behind the scenes he has done an amazing job of doing 1:1 briefings with the most senior staff members from Washington Post, CNN, msnbc, bloomberg and even did an interview for Al Gore's Climate Change Newsletter etc. i don't know if you all appreciate, how significant this is because most established companies take years to set up relationships and get in front of these types of reporters and they all know Gilbert now and if they want to write articles blockchain and need quotes and backgrounder info exactly they come to us.
Thanks for reading!

From the release of the SDK, we've ramped this up and you'll be seeing a lot more on Quant, especially if you work in corporates: Targeting Blogs Publicity Unconventional PR Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Social and Display Ads Offline Ads Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Content Marketing Email Marketing Viral Marketing Engineering as Marketing Business Development (BD) Sales Affiliate Programs Existing Platforms Trade Shows Offline Events Speaking Engagements Community Building
It allows you to set privacy fields to tokenise data you don't want others to see
Q: A community member posted an article with a strong interopability focus: https://www.coindesk.com/ethereum-enterprise-alliance-hyperledger-blockchain-consortiums-join-forces/Perhaps you guys could take a look and use it as an oppurtunity to gain some traction/awareness?

Newbie Report: Month #1

Hello, Kings_Raid!
This one is for those who enjoys reading newbie progression like myself and this is my progression for my first month :D

I started playing KR about a month ago in March 2018 (It was a friend who intro me this waifu simulator but I turned him down the first time), I believe the same day JP server opens but I rolled in Asia because most of my IRL friends are there.
I remember dropping by Discord to ask about the game and how F2P it is and that night I learned that KR community is by far the most helpful/positive/filled with :worry: in a good way (I couldn't understand :worry: back then).
Then I downloaded the game on Nox and begin my journey. Loved the cute cliche story and enjoyed playing it so much I almost not wanna stream after playing the entire weekend, but I did anyway.

To my surprise, KR was also the gateway that introduced me to the Twitch community.
I kinda remembered that night I had more viewers on Twitch than on YouTube for the very first time (Usually about 0-3 views on Twitch and 5 viewers on YouTube) I also sorta started streaming last month.
My friend told me he knows those names of pro players, whales and streamers who dropped in and of course, the newbie KR playestreamer knows nothing about the culture or even how to react but just say hi politely without knowing a lot of things are gonna change within that short month.
Thank you for the awesome hospitality on my first stream day in KR :D
Was definitely a good stream, had a lot of fun there.

I then continued streaming on regular basis for KR and the regulars dropped by and helped me out a lot on stream and in-game.
The curry game was real, I was riding on the waves behind a cruise ship on auto pilot, that ignorant bliss.
(Today I truly appreciate being able to pick whatever earrings/orbs I want with that sweet retract)
It took me awhile to slowly understand the game and some simple mechanics but I learned a lot everyday.
I read up on guides and picked out the cookie cutter newbie team aka Clause | Epis | Maria | Frey.
They were stellar for most of the content I was running, duh.
The slowest time was definitely the grind from 60+ -> 70 and then finally 70 -> 80.
I was like a mindless bot during that 1-2 weeks.

After streaming for almost 1 week, I received the invitation from Twitch for the Affiliate program! I was stoked, it's not partner yet but it means a lot to us who are starting out. I honestly didn't think I would get it as soon as 1 week of streaming KR.
Thank you guys for the support, especially to MortiferCrow who sent that unexpected first raid which was likely the reason I got affiliated that night!

Of course to the few other awesome streamers who raided/hosted me, thank you so much guys!
When I was around 78-79 I got excited, I started running a lot more BD to gear up with free curries thanks to my then viewer, now view, guildmate and friend - Mr.Naoto.
Joining that guild helped me a lot too of course, and I get to know more awesome people (moar curries + support!).
So shoutout to my guildies in Wanderer! PS: I'm in the sub-guild -> Wanderer II, lul.
Still, they manage 2x GRH clear every week (I only know recently that's quite a feat since not every guild does that).

I begin trying out harder content on manual with my team and Priscilla finally exited the Inn, thanks to the friendship event!
I wasn't sure what to do with her but I really like her and was looking forward to building her up and sure I did.
Now I'm running mostly with her instead of Maria and some content I put them together instead and let Frey rest a little.

I cleared ToO last week and it felt really good. I never thought I could be clearing content so soon and today I cleared ToC 62 after being lucky.
I cleared ToC 61 (suck it, bitch slimes!) with T2 Clause | T5 Epis | T3 Maria | T3 Priscilla Level 77 felt so much relieve.
I was aware I needed dispel for ToC 62 but I wasn't lucky enough to roll that chain nor I had any dispel until Lorraine came out and I was saving stones for her. Tonight I wanted to T3 her to clear ToC 62 but I spam bruteforce and completed it thankfully, whew!
Welp, now I'm stuck at ToC 63 but I hope to find a way to complete The Return of the Mummies.

Sleen is actually about 25% in the inn now so it will be around 2 weeks more to get her.
I feel that as a one month old player I did a lot, more so than I did with other gacha games (SW/FFBE, the only other 2 I've played) and I'm pretty satisfied with my progress thus far.
I wanna thank this beautiful community while staying clear of the traps and Trap God.
(Probably the line which offends the most people, this unnecessary risk - why did I have to type this?)

Can't forget that friend who introduced this game, supported my streams, my first sub and much curry - HyehHyeh/JuJu.
Finally my SO for playing this waifu game with me and supporting the streams and whatnot :D keke.

:worryLove:
ThatTanna

P.S: The last part kinda start to gets weird for some reason, lol.
TL;DR: Newbie playestreamer had a lot of fun and gets much curries in KR and Twitch, cleared ToO + ToC 62 but got stuck in ToC 63. Loves the community.

Edit: I woke up and attempted 63 again. FINALLY cleared that stage! 64 was pretty easy and then I ALMOST got 65 down but still couldn't finish it.

Edit2: Took a short break and attempted again. Not sure how many tries but I finally nailed it!
Clause | Epis | Maria | Pris.
Overall I'm really happy getting that extra friendship box (Though I only got 1 x 1500, lul that crap luck).
Thank you all for the encouragement and advice! :D
The last 5 stages was the most tedious yet most satisfying thing I did during this whole month!

Naomi "SexyCyborg" Wu is a journalist harasser and liar

Many of you have probably seen posts and pictures from the skinny Chinese tech goddess with the big fake boobs and short skirts. She has been featured in multiple magazine articles and has a loyal following on Reddit, where here posts have generated tens of thousands of views. She has been described as a maker, a scientist, a cosplayer, and a bombshell. The only issue is that her persona is a construction of a professional electrical engineer who has been living in China for over a decade.
Naomi "Sexy Cyborg" Wu became popular after a few of her posts on Reddit rose to the front page. She had almost everything needed to be a viral star on the Internet. Here was a half-naked Asian woman who was comfortable enough in her body to show off lots of skin. Some of her outfits ranged from provocative to outright trashy, even by China standards. Anyone with good Google skills can do a search for her to find photos that leave very little to the imagination.
Classy
Apart from her scantly-clad body and bolted-on breasts, Sexy Cyborg was also sporting some very unique high-tech accessories that she claimed to design and make all by herself. The combination of her tech know-how and short skirts helped her to become an almost instant sensation.
She has thousands of fans around the world, and has a presence on Twitter, Youtube, Thingiverse. She has submitted interviews to some of the top news agencies in the world and also writes articles for tech blogs like Hackaday, and 3dprintingindustry.
Her story is amazing. She learned English from talking to people online. She learned how to code and used her classmates name to make a great living for herself. She taught herself how to use 3d design software and is an active member of the maker community online. Her workshop looks like it cost thousands of dollars and could belong to someone with a lifetime of experience in the industry. She has videos of herself touring electronics markets in large tech cities located in China, and even shows off some of her tech prowess in her Youtube videos. She has been called an inspiration to young women, and that is where things get a little rocky.
Naomi "Sexy Cyborg" Wu isn't a tech goddess. She is a mascot.
Sexy Cyborg isn't Naomi Wu. It is an online persona created by Wu's boyfriend, who is a seasoned electrical engineer who has used Wu as the face of his operation.
Who do you think was holding the camera?
Reddit's history can be broken up into different eras. Those of us who have been on board for quite some time have seen users come and go. There was a user who used to frequent come of the 3d-design and China subs pretty often. If you do some digging into the reddit archives you may come across a user that goes by the name of "timaz." This reddit user was very active on reddit, and had many posts where he talked about 3d printing, Shenzhen, and electrical engineering in general.
Why delete such a popular account?
Sometime around Sexy Cyborgs rise to stardom the content on timaz's reddit account was deleted. The content on his account was so popular that it received reddit gold, which is an award given from reddit user to reddit user for submitting quality content. Though not expensive, the award does cost money, so one may wonder why the owner of a popular account would go through and delete all the content.
Fortunately the Internet has a way of remembering.
It seems timaz was the go to guy for 3d-printing questions
Such a helpful guy
Why spend so much time creating content just to delete it all?
I quick search for the username returns multiple posts on other sites all talking about 3d printing.
Live China Long Time
This content was so good it was linked to by another site
This guy has a lot of experience huh?
So all of a sudden, this very active member in the China maker community who always posted about 3d-printing, CNC, engineering, and general "maker" culture vanishes and in his place appears this busty petite Internet sensation with such an unbelievable story.
Once you start looking at the details it becomes clear that her story is too good to be true. The first red flag to someone familiar with China is just how good her written English skills are. Her presence on reddit includes not only posts, but also responses to questions and comments. She has parlayed her popularity to writing blog posts like the one found herewhere she shows you how to search for parts on Taobao by using Google Translate(which does not work in China. . And also by giving her opinions on the future of the 3d industry.
Where did I see something about Taobao before?
The grammar and formatting are well beyond a lot of even native English speakers. Wu says she learned English by communicating online, but Internet chatrooms and bbs's aren't known for their correct grammar. Her grammar and syntax are impeccable. As someone who has also traveled the world and spent a lot of time in China, it is very rare for even the higher educated Chinese citizens to have her command of the English language. Her command of the English language is so great that apparently she even uses software in English.
This is totally how most people in China use their software
While we are talking about China. The Chinese government blocks sites like YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram. Many Chinese people have never even heard of these sites, much less have their own presence on them. It takes special software to bypass the "Great Firewall" of China, so these sites can be accessed, but China has their own alternatives that seem to be enough for most citizens. Reddit isn't even a household name in western countries much less China. So it is strange that Naomi is not only familiar with these sites, but also proficient at using them. What is also strange is the lack of Chinese posts by Wu. All the technical posts are in English. The few results that return for a search for Wu in Chinese are mostly just photos of her. Strange that she doesn't have the same online presence in her home country as she does in the West. We are to believe that this self-taught genius knows how to code, use 3d design software, design circuits, film and edit videos, write articles in perfect grammar for English websites, use photography software and cameras to take expertly framed shots, navigate the social media of other countries, sew, and still have time to fly drones and travel around the world. When asked directly how she funds her projects, Sexy Cyborg claims to be such an adept coder that she has made enough money to pay for a workstation that many tinkerers would dream to have.
How much do you think this stuff cost?
More
Yet when there is actually a video that shows her getting down to business, the video either conveniently has problems
I'm going to show you my dope skills right nnnext time.
or she almost cuts off her fingers.
She totally has done this before
She didn't learn from the previous close call and almost does it again.
Of course there is a video showing her doing some basic soldering on her YouTube page. Seems like a strange thing to show off for such an advanced tinkerer with 18 unique projects submitted to Thingiverse.
So you may ask why my panties are all in a bunch about this faker. Well the thing is she is being heralded as some sort of role model and inspiration for women and girls. She is free and happy with her body, and she was able to make something of herself without the help of any man. Thing is, this is all a lie. She is a mascot for an engineer who has probably been in the industry for more years than Wu has been alive. The massive fake breasts do seem more of something out of a westerners fantasy than something that is common in China. That is probably why she is so unique even in her country, and why locals give her so much attention. You can search around and see the amount of people that pose to take pictures of this specimen.
[Posts and responses to her Twitter account trying to address the fakery are routinely blocked.](https://.imgur.com/NO4U1ce.jpg)
You almost wonder why this pair would go through the troub-
Oh that's right, free stuff!
Sexy Cyborg looks great. I'm happy she is happy with her body. Any critiques of her on reddit are almost instantly hit by white-knights rising to defend the honor of a stranger. I get it. She probably fulfills a lot of fantasies. If that was all she was doing, I wouldn't have a problem with it. She is not being honest about her capabilities and who is really pulling the strings behind the scene. There is no content actually showing her do anything that someone under the guidance of a trained engineer couldn't do in front of a camera. She is another examples of what is wrong with the Internet in the modern age. Its not about substance, it is all about clicks. Wu and her boyfriend understand this, and my hat goes off to them for being ahead of the curve. Just don't tell me this is what passes for inspirational these days.
In this thread, user Timaz talks about his Up Plus 2 and Leapfrog Creatr
Here is an image of the post
In this article, Wu talks about the same type of printer
Here is an image of the post
She also has it listed on her thingverse page
In this reddit post, someone links to timaz' living room setup
Here is the linked photo to his living room (note the workshop in the back, the style of tables, and the chair:
and the linked photo to his stereo
Cool chair Naomi, you are such an inspiration!
The couch in this matches the image I posted previously. She just happens to live in the same apartment as Timaz?
This guy timaz' writing style seems so familiar:
Here is an image of the post
I have lived in China for years, so her story didn't sound legit from my experience. I took the time to watch some of her videos and read some articles that were supposedly written by her, and I was astonished by her level of English and skills. She was just so different than any other person I've met here.
I taught here for a while and was hired by some pretty large companies to help their workers learn English. I worked for a factory affiliated with Apple and was brought in to help their workers learn English. Nobody had written English skills like Naomi - by a longshot.
I watched a few videos because I just couldn't believe it, and when I started questioning things I got a lot of people coming to her defense. A few reached out privately and brought up the name Timaz.
I did previously do some Internet sleuthing with searches for the username Timaz.

https://web.archive.org/web/20171102170458/http://i.imgur.com/KEDhO8M.jpg I also searched for him on other 3d printing boards
http://3dprintboard.com/showthread.php?8988-Workbench-Let-s-See-Your-Setup&p=39845
http://panoself.com
https://i.imgur.com/La0ye5n.jpg This post came up, and the user was going to share pics and videos of his workshop in Shenzhen. It would have been perfect if his images matched Naomi's, but the content had been deleted. The second link was interesting though because it linked to a website that is still up. The website is focused on 360 panorama video. If you check out Naomi's youtube page, most of her first videos were all 360 panorama videos.
There are many other posts by that username. And the content all talks about Shenzhen, maker community, 3d design, etc. The writing still is of a highly educated American, and there are some similarities with the content in these old posts and with the articles that Naomi "writes"
http://3dprintboard.com/search.php?searchid=2891297
(you may have to register at this board and search for timaz to see this content)
Besides all this stuff, she just makes references to things found in American culture that even the most educated and well-versed Chinese citizen wouldn't really know or care about. She talks about printing Yoda heads in an article and references the theft of ideas by Edison in another. These just aren't things that most Chinese people know. Most educated people here don't even know that much about their history. It isn't what is taught in their schools. So her claim that she is self-educated about all this stuff just seems outlandish.

https://hackaday.com/authonaomi-wu/
I really find it hard to believe that she afforded her whole lab with her coding abilities, and she learned her written English skills online through chat. I don't follow her or watch any of her new videos, but I just have doubt that she ever answers any real tech questions live in person. I think most of her interviews have been done via email, and most of the other inconsistencies I already documented in the blog post.
I really felt guilty about all the negative responses I got, so I was going to delete the sub and all the posts until I saw someone had it taken down. I dug around for updates and found they had started a Patreon to get money, and this really got me aggravated.
Her pastebin bio states
*What is your job? I am a web developer. Mostly using Ruby on Rails but transitioning to JS. I primarily do software but I have a little bit of exposure to hardware- Arduino and 3D printing. I am passionate about Open Source. I work at home doing freelance work for overseas companies. None of my clients know about my online persona. I'm keeping it that way until I see what sort of direction things take me and if there are any significant negative repercussions. That being said, coding is becoming increasingly challenging given the Internet access issues we have here in China so I may transition to something else.
https://pastebin.com/V3474kYs Her new Patreon states:
Why sponsor me? I don't buy frivolous things or lead any kind of a glamorous lifestyle. Whatever you sponsor it won't be wasted. You can see my lifestyle pretty clearly from my videos- most of my income goes to tools and stuff for my builds, My actual job is web development, I work online and am not the best so can only charge local rates- that means 60hr weeks and not a lot of days off. I'm hoping that some people out there enjoy my content and can afford to help out. So does she work for overseas companies or does she work for local rates.
https://www.patreon.com/sexycyborg
She didn't really get any pushback besides the blog I wrote, so it seems she changed her story from "I can afford this lifestyle and these tools because of my freelance work" to "please give me money because I am a poor Chinese girl who is trying to save the world."
https://hackaday.com/2017/03/28/source-parts-on-taobao-an-insiders-guide/
How does she know so much about buying stuff in the west? She should not have the frame of reference to compare.
Don’t Bargain Hunt The “get it cheaper” part is already done with when you made your choice to use TaoBao instead of a distributor back in the West. Further attempts to save money will result in problems. Everyone on Taobao sources from the same factories, if an identical or very similar product is much cheaper there’s a reason for it. Look at the top five most popular listings for a part, the average price of those or higher is what you can expect to pay. While there are certainly challenges to sourcing on TaoBao, for any hardware enthusiast the vast, and frequently customizable selection available make it a very useful resource and skill set to have should the need arise.
It really bothered me that she was being held up as this inspiration for little girls and women. I wouldn't have had any issues if she would just have said that she gets help or that her boyfriend shows her how to do the technical stuff.
The other links I have found on Timaz contain his thoughts and advice on printing and China. There is probably some overlap between his posts as Timaz and "her" posts.
