How To Bet On CSGO Lounge? - Esports Betting Insider

Tips, Tricks, and Hints

When I started out betting I searched forum by forum looking for these types of articles. I haven't seen one in a while so I figured to make one for the time being. Feel free to add to my list, feel free to criticize my list, or feel free to just read my list. If you feel like trolling, go back to HLTV.org, that's where you belong.
Disclaimer: I don't support unethical betting. If you have an issue controlling yourself, this scene isn't for you.
  1. The golden rule: Don't bet unless the team you're betting on is "all in". Example: A Bo1 faceit match with fnatic vs. Penta at 90%/10% odds, 1 week before Katowice is NOT a good bet to make. Some people could say they're saving strats, others could say they're throwing for skins, it doesn't matter. Fnatic doesn't necessarily have a ton to gain from a win here, a win or loss isn't going to ruin their day, even if it appears "vital" for the league. Save your bets for majors, playoffs, LANs, qualifying tournaments, or when teams need a late season push to make playoffs.
  2. Consolidate your winnings. Ever hear of the term "less is more"? You're more likely to bet those 7 FT ak redlines than you are 1 FT asiimov. As you win and progress, sell your skins and buy ones with higher values. Use the 7 day trade ban to your advantage and take a break, study teams you enjoy watching, and make sensible bets when you return. A redditor once said to me: "Don't bet because you want to bet. Bet because you want to win and you're confident in your ability to do so." As you keep winning, keep buying larger valued skins, bet the smaller valued skins. Don't consolidate your winnings into 1-2 high value skins and keep betting, that defeats the purpose. The purpose of consolidating your winnings is to build and preserve. Keep a pot of lower value skins for underdogs, a pot of medium value skins for favored teams/max bets, and high value skins to prevent you from betting them away.
  3. Bet wisely on BO1 matches. If the odds for a match are 70-30, that's telling you the community believes the favored team will win 7 games out of 10. In a BO1 scenario, you're banking that that 30% does not come up. Teams can have bad games, teams can get DDOS'd (online), teams can throw for skins, & teams can have planned or even unplanned stand-ins. Best of 1 matches are very good underdog scenarios.
  4. Do your research. Before making a bet, I go through a checklist. I check HLTV.org and review their previous matches. Have then been on a cold streak? Have they been on a hot streak? Are there previous head 2 head matches? This can tell you a TON about a match. Example: The past 5 matches for E-FRAG vs. HR are all 16-14 or 16-13, yet lounge odds say 70% in favor of HR. Does that sound right? Seems to me like those matches were pretty dang close. Next, I check their steam accounts to see how much they've been playing. You can type most pro's names in google and put "steam" after it and their page will come up. Example: EnvyUs was playing Ex-Gamers2 (CSGL) in a bo3 the week GTA5 came out. EnvyUs all had triple the hours in GTA as they did in CSGO & they lost a BO3 at around 80-90% odds. I also check twitter accounts to see if people are on vacation or coming back from one. I look at the odds and determine if my winnings will be large enough to justify a bet. I check the CSGO Betting reddit page, but I do NOT read too much into detail (too much odds swaying). I double check if there are stand-in's or DDOS has been a previous factor. I double check if they are just returning from a LAN or haven't played in a while. I wait, I let the odds settle, and I bet usually within the last 30 minutes before game time.
  5. The 60/40 factor (chain logic). Two teams who's true odds are 50/50 are playing each other in a bo3. Let's say, EnvyUs is playing TSM. EnvyUs just beat Fnatic in a bo3, while TSM barely scraped by Luminosity in a bo3. Should the "true" odds change based on this information? If you answer yes, you have some learning to do (which is okay). Lounge odds will most likely change to favor EnvyUs quite nicely...like 60/40 or even 65/35. How is this justified? Because TSM didn't look as good vs. LG as EnvyUs did vs. Fnatic? They're playing two different animals & you cannot cross compare. Don't get stuck betting on the favorite who's odds are inflated solely due to winning a previous game vs. a tougher opponent. A huge example of this actually happened to TSM. In a previous LAN TSM won their semi final quite easily, while NaVi seemed to struggle a little vs. LG, but still won. Finals came and odds inflated for TSM, almost up to 80% if I recall. NaVi comes in and smashes TSM, the end. Chain logic = bad!
  6. Do NOT bet all in. Like I said, less is more. Betting all in is the easiest way to lose your skins in 60-120 minutes. It's an idiotic way to go about doing this and no match is ever "safe". Keep in mind you're betting on dudes (or girls in some cases) playing an online video game. Even though some of these people are literally being paid to do this, they are not always required to try.
Bonus tip: Underdog betting is the easiest way to make lots of skins. Yes, you may lose more than you win, but the fact of the matter is that multiple upsets happen every single day. Every single day there are winners at 15-35%. Just look at today, a 23% win, 32% win, & a 34% win.
Enjoy betting you all. Even if this helped just one person bet, my job is done.

[PSA] Pocket trading guide

Hi!
This is a guide for both new and experienced traders alike. It will probably be more useful to newer traders as a reference point on where to start. This guide will not give specific price guidelines, but will give good pointers to make your own trading system.
So without further ado, lets get started:
Sections
1. Introduction
2. Resources (tools of trade). Manners
3. Trading- ways to make profit and little bit of math
4. Security-IMPORTANT
5. Extras-Dates to anticipate. Investing. Betting. Tiers
6. Final words
1. Introduction
If you want to start trading as a hobby, you are at the right place. If you want to make a living off it, well, I have to tell you few things-a very low amount of people make enough to make a living and it's very hard. Don't let that stop if you are determined, I am just saying:you've been warned.
Second point I want to bring up is-invest atleast 5$. Getting profit in trading is exponential-the more you have, the more you will profit. % of profit is somewhat constant on average.
Unfortunately, this also means that the less you have, the less you will profit. So if you start with 50 cents, you will be lucky to have a dollar in 2 weeks. And you could've probably earned 20$ at minimal wage in the time you've spend trading.
Also: no trader will tell you exactly what to buy. All traders, in one way or another, are a direct competition to each other. They might offer advice etc., but they won't tell you to "buy x item, it is bringing me good profit".
Last point-invest time in trading. At first, you will probably spend more time to familiarize yourself with the prices, but half an hour of intensive trading a day is enough later on. Maybe an hour on more important dates.
2. Resources (tools of trade). Manners
There are several sites you will want to bookmark and the start of your trading adventure to help you trade.
  1. This subreddit, obviously.
  2. csgolounge.com -biggest trading site there is for CS:GO items, you will spend a lot of time here.
  3. csgo.steamanalyst.com -you can track item prices here, sorted by days, average etc. Also, it can track your inventory value (for free).
  4. steamcompanion.com -this site is useful for tracking quantities of items, supply and demand. Like steamanalyst, it also has neat graphs.
  5. csgostash.com -this site has the all the items there are in game. It is also updated really fast. You will want to look here to see which item is in which collection and what items are there. Exceptionally useful when learning.
  6. steamcommunity.com/market/ -another place you will spend a lot of time. Steam community market, the place where you convert items to Steam wallet and vice-versa.
  7. csgo.exchange -this site is useful for instantly finding the float value of your weapons. This usually correlates to how "clean" your weapon is.
Now onto manners:
  • be polite-never insult people. If someone is being rude and you don't want to trade with him-add nickname "rude" and block communication+remove from friends
  • don't beg-self explanatory-no one wants to deal with beggars
  • never say "I'm sorry"-it's a sign of weakness, and saying that automatically makes you lose any leverage you had in haggling for item price. Say something neutral if you truly were a dick-"My apologizes", "I didn't see it" etc.
  • be ruthless-add 50 traders at the time on lounge. Is he asking for 6 keys, but you are offering 5? Go ahead, add him and offer him. The worst you can do is waste a bit of time. You "smell blood" and willingness to haggle down? Go ahead. But remember-DO NOT BE RUDE AND PUSHY. Do not lowball like a maniac-you will lose respect
3. Trading- ways to make profit and little bit of math
So you have 2-3 keys and want to trade? Good.
There are 2 most obvious way to profit:
1. Buy keys from steam market. Buy items for 80-84% of their market price, from people that don't want to wait for 7 day market ban. Sell on market. Profit. There are plenty of such deals, more so on lounge (in my experience). Just don't create quickbuy threads here. It's ok on lounge everybodyDoesIt
2. Buy keys on market. Buy an item for say X keys, sell for X keys+some adds. Rinse and repeat.
Both ways will net you in average 5-10% profit. This emphasizes my point-if you are to go by the first strategy and start with 50 cents-you would get 5 cents of profit weekly. Now if you were to start with 20, that's 2$ a week. 50$-5$. You get what I'm saying.
Now, just because I said that your average profit will be 5-10%, that doesn't mean you can't increase it. Every 5th-6th trade in my experience will be more than 10% profit. Sometimes you will get 50% profit! And sometimes 3%.
Math
If you started trading, you should've expected this. If you don't want to "waste time" setting up some basic, and I do mean basic excel sheets, doing some simple calculations (+,-,/,*,%)-leave.
Ok, I see you are still here. What you want to do for starters, is setup a simple excel sheet:
Price of keys you paid for.
Number of keys <> market price to break even. This means if you pay e.g. 5 keys at 2.35$ a key, you would have to sell that item for minimum of 13.50$ on market to break even or profit. How do you get this?
price of keys * number of keys you are paying for the item / 0.87 (steam tax)
Lets say you are getting started. You want to buy an item for 5 keys and sell on market for profit. Except you don't know the price of any item.
What do you do? You put in the following search parameters on Steam community market:
  • Game: CS:GO
  • Guns-Pistols, Rifles, SMG's, Sniper rifles. You don't want to select Shotguns and Machineguns, as they are particularly hard to sell
  • Normal and ST items-this is to filter souvenirs
  • sort the price by ascending
  • click the adress bar, press right arrow until you come to the end. You will notice a part saying "p=1". This is your page number. Enter a number, say 120, to get you to page 120. Look up the price, and then reduce or increase the page number until you get to items worth 5 keys.
NOTE: You HAVE care about the quantity of the item. Items with <50 means that they will take ages to sell, and that their price is extremely variable-meaning you are gambling. You don't want to do that. E.g. I bought a Desert eagle in FN condition, but the skin was so obscure that noone bought any during the weekend.
Trading is a 0-loss art. Meaning you don't want to lose money on any trade, except in 2, maybe 3 conditions:
  • you are upgrading. E.g. you are paying 2 with 2 of those obscure pistols for a AWP Asiimov, and losing 5% of your money for an extremely "sellable" skin-it's worth it
  • you are cutting losses-trading is fairly safe, but sometimes the prices will change unexpectedly and you will have to cut your losses. DO NOT "save the item" because it "might" go up. Every second you are holding onto your item, you are not making money. It might take months for you to break even
4. Security-IMPORTANT
READ THE SIDEBAR OF THIS REDDIT. READ IT AGAIN. AND AGAIN. This is your guide to survival. You DO NOT want to go through steam support to get your items back.
AGAIN. Read the guidelines. Lose 30 minutes of your life, so you don't have to lose 3 hours of your life later on trying to recover your lost items.
Never click on links. Do not "borrow an item to a friend". Do not "sell your item on market for a lot more than it's worth". If an offer is too good to be true-IT IS in 99.9% of cases.
Again. READ THE SIDEBAR.
5. Extras-Dates to anticipate. Investing. Betting. Tiers
Market is for the most part fairly stable. That means, daily fluctuations aside, that an AWP Asiimov is worth 60$ most of the time, or around that price.
However, there are some predictable dates when the market gets "unpredictable", and there are some unpredictable dates.
Predictable ones:
  • operations. Usually 1 month or so after the current one ends. Next operation on the date of me writing this (10.05.2015.) should come any week now-maybe even next week. Prices drop for most items when the operation hits. Why? People want to sell their items to buy operation pass.
  • tournaments. Less obvious-people buy skins to bet with before major tournaments-do note that due to market restriction, this happens 7 days BEFORE the tournament (the price rise), NOT at the beginning of the tournament. Also, prices tend to fall after the tournament (people selling winnings, lesser demand).
  • other-read the Steam subreddit. Read Global offensive subreddit. Valve might make some decisions, which directly impact prices, and you have to know these to be able to react. Most recent example is the 7 day sell ban-before you could buy an item on Steam market and sell immediately (but not trade for 7 days). Now you can't sell for 7 days either
Unpredictable ones:
  • Valve usually patches the game on Thursday. This means, that if you are concerned for the price of an item-you stay up late (if you are European) to be able to react quickly to the unpredictable update. Most recent example includes adding ability to trade up Stattrak weapons which increased the prices of lower tier ST weapons by 100-200%.
  • other-these you cannot predict. Probably no one can. Most recent example includes setting the $ to indonesian rupia exchange 100 times lower than it really is, making Indonesian rupia 100x more valuable than the american dollar.
Investing
All investments are speculative. The only "true" investment is M4A4 Howl, being the only truly discontinued skin in the game.
Other investments include, but are not limited to:
  • old cases being discontinued (the most recent example being OP Vanguard)-but be careful! Newer cases which have quantities of over 400 thousand will take A LOT of time to rise in price
  • weapons for older cases which drop very rarely-they are effectively discontinued like the Howl, but CAN come back in newer operations as drops unlike Howl. Example is Desert Eagle Blaze that as a result tanked from 60$ to around 20$.
Betting
Betting is really unsafe. It requires A LOT of learning, watching and a good gut. It is probably 5x more time consuming than trading and if you spend 5 hours a day, that still doesn't guarantee profit.
Why would you want to bet? While in trading your profit is 5-10% in average, by betting you can easily have profit of more than 20%.
Tiers
There are 2 main tiers of trading. Below knife and knife trading. That doesn't mean knife trading starts at 30$, the cost of cheapest knife. That means that profit margins are bigger in knife trading, due to items being unlisted on market most of the time, and only very informed people know the prices-because price guidelines are banned.
If you are starting, stick to "below knife" tier.
If you are feeling ballsy and want to invest 100$ to start knife trading, do an EXTENSIVE research.
6. Final words
That was the guide. I hope you've learned something from it. I mentioned that no trader gives advice on exactly which item to buy, but I will give you this tip: An operation is coming soon, likely next week. Key prices are expected to fall, so buy a few when it hits. You should make some money atleast.
IF THIS GUIDE OR PARTS OF IT VIOLATE RULES, MODS CAN MESSAGE ME AND I WILL REMOVE THEM PROMPTLY
Thank you for your time.

My Betting Guide - criticism please!

Hey guys Misery here!
I decided to write a little explanation aka Tips & Tricks regarding betting mainly on csgolounge.com. And to get started I want all of you to read and UNDERSTAND the rules (www.csgolounge.com/rules). I will help you with all your Questions in English or german as long as you read the rules! If the answer is easily found in the rules I might react a little not so friendly/satiric. For this guide I am making up an example-match between LDLC that has 80% on csgolounge and Torqued with 20%.
First of all I will explain to you what betting in csgo is based on and what the most important points are. Betting in csgo often involves skins or stickers but can also be done with money. You can bet with money on egamingbets.com and with items on csgolounge.com. I'm going to focus on csgolounge.com for the moment. So the lounge is setting a value to your items. This value is taken by the actual steam-value of the item. The steam-value changes often while the csgolounge-value stays the same for much longer which provides us our first exploit:

Go to csgobackpack.net/lounge.php and search for bettable items. The best item to bet is the item where the csgolounge-value divided by the steam-value is the highest. A good item starts by 1.25. Everything above that is bonus. Once you found an item like that you should buy it and use it to bet. The advantage is that you get a relatively high value on your bet without risking that much money.

Important to know is that the csgolounge-odds are not the actual chances for a team winning. This gives us two possibilities for making our choice:
  1. You can bet on the team that is more likely to win. This team is not always the better team. There are a lot of different factors that influence this way of choosing. The skill of the players, how long the team played together, the map choice if it is a best of 1, etc. These factors should give you your personal odds which might be 60-40 for LDLC. This means that LDLC would win in 60 out of 100 games. This would be a pretty good bet to place on LDLC then.
  2. You can 'play the odds'. If you calculated your personal odds to be 60-40 for LDLC you can compare them to the csgolounge-odds (80-20 for LDLC). Using this tactic you should be betting pretty late when the odds are less likely to sway and you should be sure about your prediction skills. If you are right LDLC wins 60 out of 100 matches against Torqued.
If you were betting 100$ each game on LDLC you would win: 100$/match * 60 won-match * 20% Torqued / 80% LDLC – 40 lost-match * 100$/match = -1500$ Although LDLC wins more matches than Torqued you still loose money because of the odds. In this case you should play the odds and bet on Torqued. If you were betting 100$ each game on Torqued you would win: 100$/match * 40 won-match * 80% LDLC / 20% Torqued – 60 lost-match * 100$/match = 10000$ Thats right, if you bet on LDLC you would loose 15% off your bet on average. If you bet on Torqued you would win 100% your bet on average. Of course, csgolounge.com is taking a little 4-5% cut of your winnings, but you can still see what I'm saying, right? +100% winning is huge. The only disadvantage is, that even if you predict your personal odds perfectly, LDLC still has a 60% chance of winning the game. They are not playing 100 times but just 1 time! Over time you would still profit though. Playing the odds is best in a best of 1 since the odds are most of the time not quite adapting to the circumstances of the match being HIGHLY dependent on the map and the knife round.

Once you have decided on who and how much to bet it's time to put your money down. On csgolounge we have a system that might need to get used to. If it says that the queue is currently full I personally like to put an auto-clicker onto the 'Are you sure?' button. It should do the trick. It is also really useful to have some nice skins in the returns so that you can place a bet even when the bots are down. You can place the bet 5 minutes before the match starts. Try to bet half an hour before. This way you can still think about it if anything changes your bet significantly in the last hour. I made some rules for myself that prevent me from a heart-attack:
Don't bet on odds above 90%! Don't bet against unknown teams! Don't bet what you can't afford to loose! Don't go all-in! Don't listen to the haters!

Of course it's fun and shit but the most important thing about watching is to get to know the teams. Information is the key for future games so try to get as much of that as possible. Watch every single player individually. How is the teamplay? Are they winning because of pure luck or skill or hacks?

Don't request all of it. It's good to have some skins in returns. If you'd like to play with some, get them out.
Step 6: Watch your bank.
Try to always be aware of loosing streaks or if you are going negative. Prevention can save your inv. Don't try to bet high so that you can cover your losses. It either works or it doesn't. Deal with it.

Crossbetting is betting on both teams. It takes at least 2 steam accounts and it might sound stupid but if it is executed right it is immortal. And here is why: Remember the 'bettable skins'? You should. And here is an example: In case you found skins that cost 1$ on Steam and are worth 1.50$ on lounge you can follow this example. The odds are still LDLC 80% - Torqued 20%
You should buy (80/20 + 80/20 * 20/80 = 5) of that skin. Now you put (80% * 5 = 4) skins on LDLC. Now you put (20% * 5 = 1) skins on Torqued. In case LDLC wins you made (4 * 1,50$ * 20 / 80 – 1 * 1$ = 0,5$). In case Torqued wins you made (1 * 1,50$ * 80 / 20 – 4 * 1$ = 2$). Over time you will get a feeling for it. Also after the games you will decrease your amount of overvalued skins.
